Congratulations Class of 2009!

The Class of 2009 graduated June 12th at the beautiful Crystal Cathedral.  Of the 153 seniors, 24% were accepted to the Top 100 universities in the U.S., 18% earned acceptance to the prestigious UC system, 27% will be attending the finest Christian universities, and over $4 million in college scholarships were offered.  Congratulations to all graduates and their families!

Valley Christian Athletic Director Appointed
The Board of Directors of Valley Christian Schools is pleased to announce that Mr. Zac Chan has accepted the position of Athletic Director effective this summer. Mr. Chan is currently the Athletic Director at Mayfair High School in Lakewood. His years of experience as an athletic director and his desire to develop character in students through sports are a great match for this position. Zac and his wife Jamie are members of Bethany CRC. Two Valley Christian Seniors Awarded Prestigious Appointments to US Military Academies
Two Valley Christian High School seniors have received highly competitive appointments to U.S. military academies: Jace Reyneveld to the Air Force Academy in Colorado, and Ryan Montgomery to the Naval Academy in Maryland. Approximately 10% of applicants are accepted and those students must also compete for a limited number of highly coveted nominations by their US Senator or Representative. Jace Reyneveld is a scholar athlete at Valley Christian starring on the basketball and volleyball teams and in the classroom. Ryan Montgomery is also a scholar athlete starring on the football and track teams and in the classroom. The 4 year scholarship value is $400,000 at the US Air Force Academy and $352,000 at the US Naval Academy. Both are ranked among the top universities in the nation by US News Magazine and Forbes Magazine. It is a significant honor for a high school to have one senior going to a military academy - this year Valley Christian has two! Congratulations Jace and Ryan!
Math team takes First Place in Cerritos College Math Field Day
For the third time in the last four years, Valley Christian High School has finished 1st place in the Cerritos  College Math Field Day competition (taking 2nd place in 2008). The competition consists of two parts. Each team member first chooses either the "Short Course" competition, where they hear a short lecture on a mathematical topic they have not yet learned, or the "Rapid Transfer" competition where students are  given 100 problems to work out for 30 seconds each. For the next part of the competition, the students work in pairs on a set of problems involving either Algebra 1 and 2 and Geometry ("Dual Dig 1") or Advanced Math and Calculus ("Dual Dig 2").

Valley Christian Preschool
