    Broadway Showcase Give-Day: Be a star and support the show! Help us bridge the gap between ticket sales and the program budget by making a donation between now and Give-Day on March 3 at Every dollar raised goes towards our students performing on stage!

    Parent Association Tshirt and Polo sales will be Thursday, 2/16 from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. in VCHS Bldg. B Room 23. In addition to new items, we have leftover sweatshirts from last year and this year for sale. Questions? Please email

    Band and Orchestra Fine Arts is hosting a Snack/Lunch Bar at the Fine Arts Festival on Thursday, 3/2/17, @ New Life Community Church.
    Donations of food and drinks are also needed. Items can be dropped off at any of the school offices until Wednesday, 3/1.

    Broadway Showcase Reminder:

    There is rehearsal next week Monday, 2/20 on the President's Day holiday for High School and Middle School students. 

    • HS Specialty Numbers will rehearse between 12:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. 
    • Middle School rehearsal will be from 3:00-5:00 p.m.
    • HS Opener and Closer rehearsal will be from 5:00-9:00 p.m.

    Please check the Broadway Showcase Website for specific times for your group.

    All costume requirement sheets have been posted on the Valley Christian website under Broadway Showcase.

    Costume checks are Thursday, 2/16 - Friday, 3/3 during your regularly scheduled rehearsal. Choir & Guitar class costume checks will be during class on 2/22 & 2/23, and 3/1 & 3/2. Please bring in ALL your costume parts for approval by a Cast Member or the Costume Committee. 

    Elementary Parents

    Elementary Girls in TK/K, 1-3, & 4-6: Please come pick up your costume after your regularly scheduled rehearsal on Thursday, 2/16.

    • TK/K Girls dresses cost $18
    • Grades 1-3 Girls dresses cost $16.

    Elementary Boys 4-6: Please come pick-up your costume after your regularly scheduled rehearsal on Thursday, 2/16.

    Reminder: The school will be closed for Presidents' Day on Monday, 2/20.

    Parents, please do not enter the Bus/Staff parking lot in the morning between 7:50-8:20 a.m. and in the afternoon between 2:35-3:10 p.m., due to bus traffic and safety of the children.

    6th to 7th Night: is tonight, Monday, 2/13 from 7:00 - 8:15 p.m. This event is for 6th grade students and their parents only. You'll hear about InterAdvisement Competition, exploratories, schedules, core classes, lockers and life without recess. Parents, if possible, please bring a copy of your student's proof of Tdap vaccination (pertussis/whooping cough) with you.

    Totally Twisted Tuesday2/14 is wacky dress and crazy hair day. Students may pay $5 to participate. Donations will be used to purchase prizes for this year's auction. Please note: only use products on hair that can easily be washed out.

    ES/MS Fine Arts Festival Try-Outs, Wed., 2/15, from 3:00 to 5:30 p.m. at the elementary campus.
    • Service Hours Opportunity: Do you enjoy listening to students perform? Parents are needed as door monitors for the Fine Arts Festival runoffs on Wednesday, 2/15, 2:30-5:30 p.m. at the VCES campus. Please email the Middle School if you are available to help.

    Coffee and Carbs for parents/guardians of 3rd and 4th graders on 2/17Friday, from 8:00-9:00 a.m. in the VCES Multipurpose Room.  Come connect with other parents in a casual setting.

    Kindergarten Observation Tours: We will host Kindergarten Observation Tours at 8:30 a.m.,on Friday, 2/17, Thursday, 3/2, Friday, 3/17 and Friday, 3/24. These tours are a wonderful way for prospective parents to visit our campus and focus on our Kindergarten program. They'll see teachers and students in action and explore specialty classes. Tours are available by reservation. Call Dianne in the Business Office to join in. 

    Math Circle 2017: Math Circle has meetings every Tuesday. Please fill out the form and turn into the elementary office. 

    2nd grade students will be visiting the Columbia Memorial Space Center on 2/23.

    5th Grade: Walk Through the American Revolution is Friday, 2/24.

    1st & 2nd Grade Musical: is on Tuesday, 2/28 at 7:00 p.m. at Bethany CRC, 17054 Bixby Ave, Bellflower.

    Middle School

    Jeans Fundraiser on Fridays: The next two Fridays will be Jeans Days. To participate, must purchase a wristband for $3 from your 1st Period teacher. You must wear a uniform shirt with your jeans. No Free dress passes are accepted on those Fridays. The money that is raised goes towards prizes for our School Auction in March.

    Campus. Please invite your friends and family who are interested in a Valley Christian education.

    After School Homework Club: We are accepting registrations for our After School Homework Club. Registration is limited so please register your student in advance to secure a spot. Small group tutoring is available from 3:00-4:00 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays in the Middle School library. Registration forms are available at the middle school office or by contacting Olga Stavro at

    Snacks Donation: If you are interested in donating some non-perishable snacks for our students and tutors, we would appreciate it. Please drop these off at the middle school office and let them know they are for the Homework Club. Thank you in advance. 

    SAVE THE DATE: VCMS Orientation & Study Skills (July 31 – Aug 4) – Sign up for a summer class that will help your student discover the best ways to succeed through organization, time management, study strategies, and much more. This orientation is a great place to learn more about VCMS and meet new people before the year even begins. Students will master opening their locker and even get their schedule. Mark your calendars; sign ups are coming soon! This class is intended for all 7th graders and new 8th graders. Families can choose the 8:00-10:00 a.m. session or the 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. session. Cost $80. 
    High School

    Class Registration forms for 2017-18 are due Friday, 2/24. Selecting classes is an important part of the registration and planning process for next year, so please consider your choices carefully. Consult the online Course Catalog at for course descriptions, pre-requisites, and planning flow charts. Registration Forms can be re-printed from Preferential registration will be given to those who meet the deadline.     On-Campus College Visit: MEI International Academy will be on campus today, Monday, 2/13 from 11:50 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. at the Quad Area.

    Schedule note: There will be no block schedule the week of March 6-9. On Wednesday, March 8 the high school will be dismissed at 2:45.

    Israel in Depth 2017: Deadline to sign up is March 6! VCHS teacher Mr. Tim Becksvoort will be leading a tour to Israel June 25 – July 9, 2017.  As you walk in the sandal prints of Abraham, David, Elijah, and Jesus and His disciples, you’ll watch the Biblical text unfold before your eyes, sink into your bones, and engage your heart.  Email for more information.
