  • Mission - In light of our calling to enable students to live and serve as followers of Christ in the world today, the mission of the VCS Libraries is:

    (1) to create avid and capable readers, and  (2) to teach information literacy skills to all students. To that end, we aim to provide:

    • student-centered facilities
    • excellent print and digital resources for recreational and academic use
    • an outstanding instructional program.  

    This instructional program will support traditional literacy and information literacy.  Information Literacy is the ability to access, evaluate, and use INFORMATION effectively, efficiently, and ethically.

    Classroom Video on Demand - Licensed for students TK-12.  A powerful database of video, images, and information on many subjects that can be downloaded into your presentations. 

    Gale in Context: Middle School - Includes the best of Gale's reference content with age-appropriate videos, newspapers, magazines, primary sources, and much more. Categories cover a range of the most-studied topics including cultures, government, people, U.S. and world history, literature, and many more.

    Bloom's Literature Database - This resource contains more than 20,000 critical essays from over 500 literary journals and 2,300 scholarly and critical books, including 700 titles published byBloom's Literary Criticism andFacts On File. Also included in the database are more than 13,000 biographies, 45,000 character entries, 5,000 synopses of literary works and hundreds of images and videos.

    Gale In Context: High School - Resource for papers, projects, and presentations that empowers the development of critical thinking and problem solving skills with content aligned to national and state curriculum standards.
