The LANGUAGE ARTS Department seeks to develop within each student Christian discernment through the study of literature and writing.  Because literature is about expression and communication, it is vital for students to be able to think critically and communicate effectively in their relationships with their fellow men and with God.  Through the study of literature and writing, students develop a sensitivity to the use of language, grow in the understanding of God's created world, gain an appreciation of other cultures, and observe the mystery and complexity of each person and his/her creative mode.  In the light of God's Word, students also develop insight into the moral nature of the universe and the transcendent issues of good and evil present in our society. Thus students can become more effective representatives of Christ in the world when they leave Valley Christian High School.
