    The Annual Soup and Pie Dinner and Concert will be on Friday, 4/12 from 5:00 - 7:00 PM in the High School Gym. Join us for delicious soup, pie, and wonderful music presented by the band and orchestra groups grades 5-12.
     
    BOPA Parents—Donation fliers will be distributed to students this week, or download the Soup and Pie flier.  Please turn in your donation/volunteer forms to any music teacher or school office by Friday, 4/5.     Volunteers needed for our annual Scholastic Arts Awards Ceremony on Wednesday, 4/24 from 6:00 - 9:00 PM. Earn service hours while helping to set up, serve and take down our dessert reception following the ceremony. Low stress and fun!     VC Summer Day Camp is hiring - Do you like working with kids? Are you going to school to be a teacher, and needing summer work? College/High School Student looking for a summer job? Valley Christian Summer Day Camp is looking to hire fun and engaging individuals who like working with kids. Our summer program runs from May 30th - August 5th.     2019/2020 School year confirmation and Summer intent forms were due on Friday, 3/15. There is still time to sign up, please turn in your form as soon as possible.
     
    The Preschool teachers and staff was overwhelmed by all the kindness shown to them this week by parents and students. We enjoyed a fantastic luncheon put on by Parents Association and appreciated all the help given to us by parents, as well as tokens of appreciation from parents and students. We are very grateful for all of you.
     
    Community Helpers week is Monday, 3/18 through Friday, 3/22. There is still time to sign up and earn SERVICE HOURS! We would like volunteers to share about their professions for 15 minutes. All professions are welcome such as bakers, fashion designers, medical professionals, bankers, police officers, firemen, plumbers, teachers.... Please see or contact Mrs. Sara to sign up!
     
    Spring break is next week: If your child is attending, please sign them in and out as normal and bring them to a teacher that is present. Not all teachers will be working every day.
     
    Graduation Photos on Wednesday, 4/3 for children in Pre-K and children who will be going to TK next school year. Photos will start at 9:00 AM. If your child attends on Wednesday, the teachers will take them to get their photo taken. If your child does NOT attend on Wednesday, it is the parents responsibility to bring their child to take a photo.
     
     

     

    Elementary School
     
    The VCES staff and faculty was overwhelmed by all the kindness shown to them this week by parents and students. We enjoyed a fantastic luncheon put on by Parents Association and appreciated all the help given to us by parents, as well as tokens of appreciation from parents and students. We are very grateful for all of you.
     
    Class Color Spirit Day Friday, 3/22! Show your class spirit by wearing the following colors by grade level: 6th-Black, 5th-Orange, 4th-Yellow, 3rd-Green, 2nd-Blue, 1st-Purple and TK/K-Red. Spirit Day is optional. If you do not wish to participate, please be in uniform.
     
    Kindergarten Orientation, Monday, 4/8 at 7:00 PM: This meeting is for parents of students who will start kindergarten in August 2019. You'll meet the Kindergarten teaching team as well as learn about important details, including "A Day in The Life of a Kindergartener" and Kindergarten assessment.
     
    Epic Space Adventure! - Valley Christian After School Science Club for grades K-6. Class is available on Thursdays, 3/21, 4/4, 4/11 from 3:00-4:00 PM. Registration and information can be found here
     
    Spring Enrichment Classes sign ups are due! Classes will be held for five Tuesdays from 3:00-4:00 PM, beginning 4/2. Your payment is due now.
     
    VCES Family Day at Angel Stadium on Saturday, 4/6: Take your family out to the ball game! Join VCES families for a fun night watching the Angels play the Texas Rangers.     LOST AND FOUND items need to be picked up by Thursday, 3/21- Anything left in Lost and Found will be donated to Affordable Treasures on 3/22. Please have your child check for any missing items, we have lots of jackets and other clothing items in our Lost and Found.

    Volunteers are needed for the annual Trot for Technology on Friday, 4/5 from 8:15 - 11:45 AM - Each year we host a jog-a-thon fundraiser to raise money for elementary school technology. Email Tracy Espinosa at tracyrvh7@yahoo.com to help.

    LAST EUROPE TRIP MEETING OF THE YEAR on Thursday, 3/21! If you still want to sign up for the trip before the $250 discount expires, you're in luck , because the deadline has been extended until April 2nd. For those of you who are interested in learning more about the awesome places we'll be going and how your parents can afford to send you by paying monthly payments, we will be having our last meeting of the school year this Thursday, 3/21 at lunch time in Room C31. If you can't make the meeting, you can come by Room C31 and get an information packet or you can talk to Mr. Rhodes, Mrs. Cortes, Ms. Brito or Mrs. Zoetewey or you can simply go to http://www2.educationaltravel.com/Rhodes-8203. This will take you to the VCHS tour page that says sign up now! You'll also be able to see the amazing itinerary of 4 European countries we'll visit.

    Scholarship applications are due 3/22! Senior parents, has your child been active in service during their high school years? Is he/she planning on attending Calvin College? Does your student hope to be an elementary teacher? Is your child intending to attend a trade or vocational school? A variety of scholarships are available for seniors from generous Valley alumni and supporters (click here for descriptions) and from the Scholastic Arts Society (see www.vcschools.org/sas). Paper copies of the scholarships are available on the shelves outside of the Counselor’s offices. Scholarship applications are due on Friday, 3/22.
     
    Powderpuff Football game on Friday, 3/22  at 4:00 PM - Kick off spring break by cheering on the junior and senior girls as they face each other in a Powderpuff football game Friday at 4:00 on the high school football field. Admission is free.
     
    VCHS Robotics Competition This Weekend! You are invited to cheer on the VCHS EPIC Robotz team as they compete at the Los Angeles Convention Center (1201 S Figueroa St, Los Angeles, CA 90015) on Friday, 3/22 and Saturday, 3/23 in the LA Regional. Qualification matches will occur all day Friday and Saturday morning, with all final rounds occurring on Saturday between 1:30-4:30 PM. Please come and support the EPIC Robotz-Team 4415 competitive robot. You must wear closed toed shoes to visit the team's pit area. The event is free to everyone. Can't get to the LA Convention Center on Friday or Saturday? Consider watching the competition on-line at https://www.thebluealliance.com

    Junior Senior Banquet will be held on Friday, 4/26. Ticket sales will be held 4/9-4/12 during lunch; only seniors may purchase the first two days. All juniors and seniors attending this event must be at school 1st-4th periods that day and will be dismissed at lunch. The forms that must be signed in order to purchase tickets are posted in Canvas on the High School Student page. Please note the dress code and read all the information carefully. The ticket price is $85 for Valley students; $95 for guests. The location is the Palos Verdes Performing Arts Pavilion in Rolling Hills Estates.
     
    Senior Trip is coming up on Monday, 4/29. Tickets are $65 and will be on sale in the High School Office from now until Thursday, 3/21. Seniors were given information in class last week, and parents can also download the Senior Trip Info and Permission Slip at vcschools.org/hsresoursces.

    Counseling Office News - Cerritos College Senior Preview Day: Friday, 4/5, 9:00 AM - 12:30 PM. This open house will be at Cerritos College and is designed to introduce students to the campus and acquaint them with the academic/career technical education programs, student services, athletics, and student life programs offered at Cerritos College. Prospective students will have an opportunity to meet with faculty and staff.     Athletics
     
    All K-12 students will be admitted free to all VCHS home games (excluding CIF playoffs) for the 2018-19 VCHS athletic season. We look forward to seeing you at the games. High School Students should bring their student ID.

    Affordable Treasures Thrift Store now has a truck to come and pick up your donations. Please call the store at 562-866-0060 and speak with Ashlee Brewer to schedule a pick up! They also have a blue bin located in front of Building B at Valley Christian High School for clothing and shoes donations.
