But do this with gentleness and respect." 1 Peter 3:15The Valley Christian community extends sympathy to 12th grader Ashley Green due to the passing of her mother Elbirtha Watson last week. Our thoughts and prayers are with Ashley and her family at this time.We also extend sympathy to 2nd grade teacher at VCES, Carolyn Kamstra and her family due to the passing of her father last week. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Kamstra family.Due to the week of rainy weather, students on all campuses may wear jeans as long as they are within dress code.Red Cross Blood Drive - Tuesday, 1/15, 8:30 AM - 2:30 PM in the VCHS Chapel. Parents and the VCS community are invited to give blood at the VCHS Red Cross Blood Drive. Check in at the VCHS office anytime on Tuesday. Parent service hours (3 hrs.) will be given for donations. There will be free hot dogs, raffles and a great game to watch vs Heritage Christian. This year we are raising funds for NFCR (National Foundation of Cancer Research) on behalf of Klay Branderhorst and pediatric cancer. Please come out and support a cause that is an important part of the girls soccer program and let's rally as a community around the Branderhorst family.The High School Robotics team is looking for mentors with mechanical design and/or computer aided design (CAD) experience to help develop this year's competition robot. Meetings are held each weekday evening (except Wednesdays) from 6:30-9:00 PM, and Saturdays 9:00 AM-5:00 PM. If you can spare an evening or two, or a few hours on Saturdays, we'd greatly appreciate your help. Service Hours Opportunity on Saturday, 2/2: Many volunteers are needed to chaperone the High School Winter Formal on the evening of Saturday, 2/2. You do not need to have a student at the high school level to chaperone the dance. This opportunity is available to parents of all grade levels. Lunch Bunch Days: Tuesday, 1/15, and Wednesday, 1/30Reminder: We will be closed for Martin Luther King Day on Monday, 1/21.Pancakes and Pajamas on Friday, 1/25. We will be having a fun day celebrating the letter "P". The children are invited to wear their pajamas to school (no slippers please) as we enjoy a special book and pancakes, sausage, and milk. All children are invited to attend from 10:00-11:00 AM with a parent or guardian if it is not their normal day of attendance.

Kick It Up Dance Studio will be offering a Musical Theatre Class for K-3rd graders at the elementary campus starting Tuesday, 1/15 at 3:00 PM. Learn how to sing, dance and act. Students will have a blast each week learning different Broadway musical selections. Two sessions are available, one beginning 1/15 and a second one on 3/12. VC Middle School Admissions Open House on Saturday, 1/26 at 12:00 PM: Tell your family and friends! Come and celebrate the annual Winter Admissions Open House Day.Help promote our Middle School! We have postcard-sized flyers at our MS office which we would LOVE to have you pass out to friends and family members who may be interested in VCMS. Use the postcards to invite them to our Admissions Open House on Saturday, 1/26 from 12:00 - 2:00 PM. Students may write their name on the back when they give it to someone who is interested in attending the Open House. Those cards will be turned in for a drawing for 3 - $50 Amazon gift card.8th Grade Parents - VCHS registration forms are due Friday, 1/25. The High School office mailed a letter home last week with a class registration form for your student’s first year of High School! The letter also contains information about 8th grade Graduation and the dance afterwards. If you are bringing a guest who is not a Valley student, please complete the Winter Dance 2018-2019 form, Alcohol/Drug Affidavit along with the Guest Pass request. These forms for guests must be approved by Ms. Snoeyink prior to purchasing tickets. You can find these forms on the Canvas high school student page.VCHS EUROPE 2020: If you are still thinking about the Europe trip, you can still sign your child up for the trip to Germany, Switzerland, Czech Republic, and the Netherlands. Nick will be presenting to the 10th and 11th grade parents and students regarding PreACT and PSAT scores, as well as college admissions. This is a great opportunity for parents to ask questions and receive valuable information.
