The Spirit Store will be open on Tuesdays in September from 3:00-4:00 PM! The Spirit Store sells VC t-shirts, sweatshirts, jackets, hats, and socks. It is located on the high school campus in room B23. Cash, checks, and digital payments are accepted. Sensory Screening Results for Grades TK, K, 1st grade boys, 2nd and 5th - Forms from Southern California Sensory Screening for students whose screening results were within normal range will be sent home with your child today. If it was recommended for your child to have a follow-up visit with their physician, as per the results of the hearing and/or vision screening; emails were sent to those parents on 9/22.Spirit Day - Tourist Day, Friday, September 29 - Dress in your best tourist attire or like you're on vacation! Spirit Day is optional. If you choose not to participate, please be in uniform.Student Pictures are available for you to view and order online. 4th Grade Walk Through California will be held on Wednesday, 10/4.Parenting with Purpose: Join us on Tuesday, 10/10 from 6:30 to 7:30 PM in the VCES Multipurpose Room for Parenting with Purpose, a new parent gathering geared toward equipping and empowering parents of elementary students. Our school counselor, Mrs. Stahl, will facilitate a time of learning from one another and taking home new ideas for connecting with and growing your relationship with your children. Questions? This Lego Robotics Club also helps elementary students prepare for middle school and high school VEX robotics programs. Do NOT drop your child off in the street on Grand Ave. Please be courteous when driving down Grand, Hacienda and Monterey streets, SLOW DOWN for the safety of children and neighbors.Student Drop Off Items (lunches, instruments, etc.) To ensure the safety and wellbeing for all students and staff, please note the changes for items that are dropped off for your child.- Instruments, homework etc. may be dropped off on or near the cart outside the front office.
- Lunch drop off, including from external services such as Uber Eats, DoorDash, and other similar platforms may be placed on the cart outside the front office. Fast food lunch drop offs should only be used for emergencies or a special occasions. This should NOT be a daily or weekly occurrence for your child.
- Please ensure that lunches, homework, instruments, etc. are labeled with the student's full name and class so they may be delivered to students in a timely manner.

Hot Lunch Orders are due by Wednesday, September 27.Dress Code Reminder: Parents, please make sure your students are coming to school in the appropriate uniform. Shorts must be black or khaki, Dennis Uniform or Dickies brand, and must be the appropriate length. Shorts and skirts may not be rolled. Pants must be black or khaki flat front, uniform pants (no denim allowed. No cargo pants allowed). Please avoid scheduling appointments this day and make sure that your students get plenty of rest and have a good breakfast.- 9th graders will be rotating through multiple sessions that include: taking a strengths test, mental health, and 4 year academic/college planning.
- 10th and 11th graders will be taking the PSAT
- 12th graders have the option to stay home, make a college visit,or take the SAT or ASVAB career test. (sign ups have been completed)
- Please note that school will start at 8:15 AM (unlike most Wednesdays that start at 9:00 AM). Please arrive by 8:00 AM to find your testing room. Students will not necessarily finish at the same time, but testing ends at approximately noon.
- There is no lunch service on testing day.
- High school students are not permitted to visit other VCS campuses until after 2:45 PM.
- Buses will run their normal schedules.
Looking for parent service hours? We are looking for candy donations for our student council's harvest festival booths. You will get 1 service hour for each bag of individually wrapped candy, up to 2 hours! You can drop the candy off in the front HS office. First Steps Christian Preschool has a Director position available. The preschool director should be a Christ-centered person and willing to know all aspects of administration. Working collaboratively with the preschool board, teachers, parents, and other staff of the church. The director should lead the day to day management of the preschool. The purpose of First Steps Christian Preschool is to be a visible arm of the church's ministry to families in Artesia and surrounding communities, by providing a Christian daycare and preschool program for younger children.
