    Kindergarten and 3rd Grade Christmas Concert will be Tuesday, 12/6 at 7:00 PM at Bethany Christian Reformed Church, 17054 Bixby Ave, Bellflower.

    Parent Service Hours Opportunity - The high school office is looking for help with the Teacher’s Christmas Luncheon on Friday, 12/9. Donations are needed as well as shifts of people to help set up, serve, supervise students, and clean up. Please contact the high school office at if you are interested in helping.
    The Long Beach Christmas Pageant will be held on Saturday, 12/10, 6:30-8:30 PM. Both the VCHS and VCMS handbell choirs will be playing between 7:00-8:30 PM at Long Beach CRC, 5559 E Wardlow Rd. Invite all to attend this free event! Five churches set up outdoor scenes to reflect the Christmas Story - complete with live actors and live animals. Dress warmly, walk the candle-lit path, and remember the true meaning of Christmas.
    Save the Date! The Second Annual Cocoa and Carols will be Tuesday, 12/13 - 5:00-9:00 PM on the high school campus. Celebrate the Christmas Season with the VC Community on this wonderful evening of music. Music groups from our elementary, middle school, and high school campuses will be performing. You won't want to miss this special event!
    The VC Spirit Store, located on the high school campus in B24, will be open during Cocoa and Carols on 12/13 from 5:00 - 8:00 PM!
    If you would like to financially support the Valley Christian Music Programs, please CLICK HERE to purchase a customizable Music Sponsor Ornament (paper material) that will be displayed on the advertiser’s wall at Cocoa and Carol’s. Our music program will be putting the money raised toward the purchase of new platform risers to be used by all of our music groups at future events. Thank you for your support!     VCS Preview Days - Please invite your friends and family to come to a Preview Morning.  This is a great way for your friends to get an inside view of VCS as they tour each of our campuses! Spread the news!

    Young Alumni Day: Come back to visit us on Wednesday, 12/21! The open house for VCHS Grads from 2018-22 will be Wednesday 12/21 from 11:30 AM-12:30 PM in the High School Office Building SSB. We will have drawings for prizes beginning at 11:45 AM. It will be an open house environment with light refreshments being served. We would love to see you!

    Broadway Showcase 2023 - We will return to La Mirada Theatre again this year for Broadway Showcase 2023! This year's production will once again include TK through 12th grade! Mark your calendar.

    • HS Opener/Closer - All VCHS students can sign up starting Monday, 12/5. A sign-up sheet is posted on the doors of the Music Room (C32). Participation will be capped at 100, so be sure to sign up right away to ensure your spot!

    Variable Tuition Application is now open -Variable Tuition at Valley Christian is a way to meet tuition needs for families based on individual financial situations. While we may not be able to meet every situation, our team works to assist as we are able. Variable Tuition is available for Full-Day TK through 12th grade. We require everyone to reapply each year. Each case is confidential and is evaluated by a third party, FAST (Financial Aid for School Tuition). The application requires a copy of your 2021 Federal (1040) and State Income Tax returns and all supporting schedules along with the 2021 W2s and/or Business Taxes (1120s,1065 and coordinating K1s). You’ll find the application on our website by clicking here. The application fee is $48. If we receive your completed application by 12/31/22, you will have your results by February 2023 in time for re-enrollment. Applications received after 12/31/2022 will not be considered until after the re-enrollment period and will be based on funds available.     Christmas Program Friday 12/9: Please join us on Friday, 12/9 at 6:30 PM as our preschool children share the joy of Christmas through song. Desserts and cocoa will be served after the performance. (Children may be dropped off in their classroom at 6:15 PM).
    Parent Volunteer Opportunity: Desserts donations, set-up/serve/clean-up volunteers are needed for our Christmas Program Desserts and Cocoa on 12/9. Sign-Up Genius sent out last week.
    Class Christmas Parties: We are excited to welcome "The Scripture Lady" to our Christmas party on 12/22! Kathy Vincent (The Scripture Lady) has graced VCPS with a Halloween Chapel and a Thanksgiving Chapel in years past. Her program never disappoints and shares the real reason for each season. All children are invited to attend this fun and special occasion. The party starts at 9:30 AM sharp. Parents are welcome to stay for this portion and then the children will go into their classrooms to celebrate with friends. Pick up for ALL children will be at 11:45 AM.
    Christmas Holiday Break Sign-Ups are going home today! All parents who would like their child to attend over Christmas break MUST sign up. Please check your child's file for the Christmas Break Daycare Sign-up sheet and return the form to your child's teacher by Monday 12/12.
    Christmas Holiday Break Schedule: Preschool will be open from 7:30 AM-5:30 PM the following dates of Christmas Break:

    Chapel Giving: Through our weekly chapel offerings, the children at VCPS were able to donate 20 gifts to families in need this Christmas season. What a blessing it is for our preschoolers and their families to give back to the community.

    Elementary School
    5th & 6th Grade Athletics: We are in need of Boys Basketball and Girls Volleyball coaches. The season starts after Christmas break. These are paid positions! If you are interested or would like additional information regarding the program, please email DanetteTeays at
    5th/6th Grade Athletics:  Tryouts will be Wednesday, 12/14 and Thursday, 12/15 from 3:00 - 4:30 PM for both girls' volleyball and boys' basketball at the Elementary school.
    Tuesday, 12/6, 7:00 PM - Kindergarten and 3rd Grade Christmas Concert . Please join us in heralding the Christmas season with our Kinder and 3rd grade program! The program will be held at Bethany CRC, located at 17054 Bixby Ave, Bellflower at 7:00 PM. We are looking forward to blessing you with an evening of Christmas carols.
    2nd grade students will be going to the Los Angeles Zoo on Friday, 12/9.
    The Bellflower Community Christmas Toy & Gift Store - Every Christmas, Valley Christian helps support the Toy Store, an opportunity to help our neighbors in need by providing affordable gifts to bless their children. We need YOUR help to collect toys for this outreach event.     Festive Christmas Spirit Day - Thursday, 12/22. Show your school spirit by wearing your best festive Christmas outfit! Spirit Day is optional. If you choose not to participate, please be in uniform.
    Kids' Christmas Boutique will be held 12/12-12/16. Shopping schedules, information and envelopes were sent home with students today and here is the link.
    Want to celebrate your child’s birthday with the high school Madrigals Choir?! Fill out the attached order form along with $20 and return it to the elementary school office to place a birthday gram order and have The Madrigals sing happy birthday to your student. Birthday grams also include a sweet treat and goodie bag!! Birthday grams will be delivered once a month to the elementary school campus. Please support the Madrigals and help them get to Orlando this spring!
    Skatedogs Mobile Skateboard Park will be offering an 8-session class at the elementary campus on Fridays, beginning Dec. 9. Information and registration forms may be found here. Class space is limited and early registration is recommended.
    Earn Service Hours and Spread Christmas Cheer by volunteering for the VCES Christmas Boutique held in the campus library 12/12-12/16! Please sign up for set-up, sales assistance,or clean up:
    Pop Tabs: We are partnering with The Ronald McDonald House to help families in their time of need by collecting Pop Tabs. Students may bring in their pop tabs at any time.

    Middle School
    Congratulations to the staff and cast of ‘Murder at The Malt Shop’ on a job well done, and thank you to all who came out to support them!
    Friendly Dress Code Reminder: Parents, as it gets chilly outside and students opt for warmer uniforms, please make sure that your students attire meets the VCMS dress code requirements. Students may wear black or khaki pants of their choice. They must fit properly. Students may not wear denim, jeggings, leggings, cargo or athletic type pants. Hoodies must have a VC logo.     Join us 12/13 at 5:00 PM for Cocoa & Carols. On Tuesday, 12/13, Valley Christian Schools will be hosting a Christmas celebration, with performances by the orchestras, bands, choirs, and handbell choirs, from our elementary, middle school and high school students. This event will take place outdoors on our high school campus. It is a night you won’t want to miss!
    VCMS Serve Day... On Wednesday, December 21, our VCMS students and staff will have the opportunity to be a blessing to others as we participate in a variety of service projects within our community. Here's how you can help -
    • We need donations for our homeless hygiene kits, care packages, and encouragement/Christmas cards. Please check out our Amazon Wishlist to assist in purchasing these items.
    • If you would like to make a monetary donation to help us fund these projects, please contact the MS school office.
    • We need six (6) MS parent volunteers to help chaperone and assist at our various service locations. Please contact Mrs. Aguilera,, to sign up.
    The VCMS team is thankful for your partnership. We look forward to spreading the love of Jesus as we serve our community.
    Annual Middle School Bowling Party - Thursday morning, 12/22. Permission for this field trip was granted with the Field Trip Permission Form at the beginning of the school year, however an information flier went home on 11/28. Students should bring $20 to the middle school office by Friday, 12/15. If this is a hardship in any way, please contact Mrs. Chamberlin at This is a super fun morning, and we don't want anyone to miss out!
    Thursday, December 22nd, is a half day. Students will be dismissed at 11:30 AM. For students who take the bus, buses will be running on this day.

    High School
    Calling all Freshman!! Join us on Monday, 12/5 - 6:30-9:00 PM in the Legacy Chapel for a freshman mixer! We will have music, games and snacks! No need to sign up, email your freshman student council president Jiselle Park if you have any questions!

    Europe Trip Summer '23: If you've been thinking about sending your child on this year's trip to Europe, there's still time. The price of the trip will increase after December 21st so if you've been putting off making a decision, now's the time to act. We have a fun group going, but we still have room for a few more travelers. If touching an original piece of the Berlin Wall, watching the time change on the world's oldest astronomical clock in Prague, experiencing firsthand Switzerland's beautiful lakes and Alpine mountains, enjoying a Rhine River cruise to an ancient castle, and going on a bicycle tour in Amsterdam, sounds like the way you want your child to spend two weeks this summer, then you can still enroll your child in the trip if you go to   If you have any other questions about the trip, please contact Mr. Rhodes at
    VCHS Exams are December 19-21. Some reminders about Exam Week:
    • The exam schedule is posted on the High School Student page in Canvas and at
    • Attendance during Exam Week: Please DO NOT schedule appointments between 8:00 AM-Noon during exam week. If your child is too sick to take exams, contact the Attendance Desk at 562-865-0281, ext. 227 or by emailing
    • Students should arrive on campus before 8:30 AM, or between 10:00-10:30 AM (depending on their exam schedule). While on campus, students who are not taking exams will be required to be in a testing room or remain in the library for the duration of the testing period. If a student does not have an exam, he or she is not required to be on campus.
    • VCHS students are not allowed to visit other campuses until 2:45 PM.
    • The canteen will be open from 8:00-8:30 AM and 10:00-10:30 AM - Monday-Wednesday.
    • Buses will run at regular times (8:00 AM drop off, 2:45 PM departure) on Monday-Wednesday.
    • The library will be open until 2:30 PM, Monday-Wednesday.
    • During the exam blocks (8:30-10:00 AM and 10:30 AM-12:00 PM) students may not enter or leave campus.
    • Uniforms must be worn during finals or students will not be allowed to take final exams.
    • There is no school for high school students on Thursday, 12/22.
