VCES uses the Write Source curriculum in grades 4-6. Write Source is a writing and grammar program. Writing and grammar are taught side by side, allowing students to improve in grammar as they develop in writing. Students learn the six traits of writing: ideas, organization, voice, word choice, sentence fluency,
and conventions. They then integrate all of the traits into the writing process: prewriting, writing, revising, editing, and publishing. Students build confidence in writing and grammar and are more prepared for higher learning.
