    The VCMS and VCHS Handbell Choirs invite you to a night of music on Monday, 5/3 at 7:00 PM. The concert will be outdoors in the High School Defender Wall Plaza located on the High School campus. Masks are required. Bring a chair or blanket and come enjoy the music! If you are unable to attend in person, you'll be able to find a livestream feed on www.vimeo.com/valleychristiancerritos.
     
    Parents’ Association will have a final flash sale on previous year’s T-shirts on Wednesday, 5/5 from 3:00 to 5:00 PM on the high school campus, Bldg B, Room 23. All T-shirt’s will be marked down to $5. Limited styles, sizes and colors will be available. The line will start outside Bldg B. Only 2 people will be allowed to shop at a time to allow for social distancing. Please wear a mask. Only cash and checks will be accepted. Please direct any questions to pasales@vcschools.org.

    VCS Used Uniform Sale drop off days are Tuesday, 5/18 and Wednesday, 5/19 at the Elementary campus.  Here is the label form. The Used Uniform sale will be on Monday, 8/2, 4:00-8:00 PM and Tuesday, 8/3, 9:00 AM-1:00 PM in the Legacy Chapel on the High School campus.

    Donate gas and grocery gift cards through SCRIP to help the Alaska Missions Team: VCHS is sending a missions team to Alaska in June. The team of 22 students and 5 faculty will be running VBS and Soccer camps in the Anchorage area. You can help--buy Vons ($25, $50 or $100) or Chevron ($50, $100 or $250) gift cards through our SCRIP office to help cover the gas and food costs. Please specify on your order that your order is for the Alaska trip at the SCRIP office, or at any of the campuses. If you have any questions, contact the SCRIP office at 562-865-4285.

    Preschool  
     
    Graduation: Preschool graduation will be Friday, 5/14 at 11:00 AM. Our Pre-K class and Ms. Jamie's preschoolers who are moving on to Transitional Kindergarten will participate in the ceremony.
     
    Preschool Sports Day: On Tuesday, 5/18 we are planning a fun Preschool Sports Day. Keep an eye out for more info in the coming week.

    Mr. VanderDussen Retirement - After 43 years, Mr. V has decided to take a long fishing vacation. We would love to send him off with a sea of well wishes.     VCES Art Show - Thursday, 5/6, 5:00 - 7:00 PM. This is a fun night for families to come and see our children’s artwork. To adhere to COVID guidelines, we are limiting the number of visitors on campus to the student’s immediate family. The Kona Ice Truck will be on campus, a portion of the proceeds will go towards the Art program. Students and visitors must wear masks while on campus and social distance. We look forward to seeing you!
     
    The 5th Grade Band, 6th Grade Band, and 6th Grade Choir will be performing on Tuesday, 5/11 at 3:00 PM.  Join us after school to hear what these students have been learning.  Please park in the basketball court parking area and join us on the south side of the Multi-purpose room building.  Feel free to bring your most comfortable lawn chair to sit in for the performance (folding chairs will be available).

    Sports Day - Tuesday, 5/18 - The event will take place at the high school football field for grades 1- 6. Kindergarten and TK classes will have their Sports Day at the elementary school. Information was emailed to parents last week. Permission slips will be sent home with students next week.

    Save the Date - Wednesday, 5/19 - 6th Grade Blessing Ceremony. More information and details will be emailed to 6th grade parents next week.
     
    VCES Parade - Thursday, 5/20 - Parade down Grand Avenue (10:00-11:00) Travel East down Hacienda St. from Woodruff Ave. Turn Right at the stop sign (collect a treat) and exit onto Artesia Blvd. Feel free to circle around twice. Teachers and staff will be lined up along the street looking forward to seeing you.
     
    Thursday, 5/20 (Parade Day) - There will be no school for students on this day. Daycare will be available 7:00 AM - 6:00 PM.

    8th Grade Crystal Cove permission slips are due in the VCMS office by today, 5/3. Please turn those in ASAP, if you haven't done so.
     
    VCHS Choir and Praise Team Auditions for the 2021-22 school year are now open!  Incoming 9th graders who want to sing in Concert Choir are not required to audition. Auditions will take place remotely and will require a video submission along with the completion of an audition form. The deadline has been extended to TODAY, 5/3!
    8th Grade Graduation Tickets Orders are due today, 5/3. Parents, you may pick up your graduation tickets from the middle school office Thursday 5/6 and Friday 5/7. Any graduation tickets that have not been picked up by Friday 5/7 will be mailed home.
     
    7th & 8th Grade Boomers Permission Slips and money are due in the VCMS Office today, 5/3.

    Senior Blessing: Seniors and their Parents are invited to Senior Blessing on Monday, May 17 at 7:00 PM at VCHS Defender Wall Plaza for an evening of worship and senior memories.     It's time to start thinking about traveling abroad again! The VCHS Europe trip that was postponed in 2020 because of the pandemic has been rescheduled for the summer of 2022. We are confident that countries will be open again and it will be safe to travel by then. We are looking to grow our travel group that has been patiently waiting to see the world. We’ll be touring Germany, Switzerland, Czech Republic and the Netherlands. We will be having a Parent Zoom meeting Thursday, 5/6 at 7:00 PM. Click here to join the Zoom meeting.     • All students will be remote, we will not have students on campus.
    • Teachers will be providing specific information for each class regarding how to access and complete exams.
    • Exams this year will be organized by class period, not subject area as it has been in the past.
