Donate gas and grocery gift cards through SCRIP to help the Alaska Missions Team: VCHS is sending a missions team to Alaska in June. The team of 22 students and 5 faculty will be running VBS and Soccer camps in the Anchorage area. You can help--buy Vons ($25, $50 or $100) or Chevron ($50, $100 or $250) gift cards through our SCRIP office to help cover the gas and food costs. Please specify on your order that your order is for the Alaska trip at the SCRIP office, or at any of the campuses. If you have any questions, contact the SCRIP office at 562-865-4285.

Pajama Day: Preschool students who attend on Wednesday, 5/19 are invited to wear their favorite Pj's to school.
End of the year ice cream social/graduation party: On Thursday, 5/20 to celebrate the accomplishments of all of our preschool students, we will be hosting an ice cream social and graduation party at 11:00 AM (pick up for all students at 11:45 AM).

At Valley Christian Elementary School, you have a choice to either enroll your student in a traditional classroom or a multiage classroom. We don’t choose you; YOU choose us! Sports Day - Tuesday, 5/18 - The event will take place at the high school football field for grades 1- 6. Kindergarten and TK classes will have their Sports Day at the elementary school. Information was emailed to parents last week. Permission slips were sent home with students last week.
Sports day volunteers - We will see you tomorrow, Tuesday at the high school football field at 8:15 AM. Bring a lawn chair and maybe a sun umbrella if you want one. Lunch and drinks will be provided, and we should end around 1:30 PM.

Save the Date - Wednesday, 5/19 - 6th Grade Blessing Ceremony. More information and details were be emailed to 6th grade parents last week.
VCES Parade - Thursday, 5/20 - Parade down Grand Avenue (10:00-11:00 AM) From Woodruff, travel east down Hacienda St. Turn Right at the stop sign (collect a treat) and exit onto Artesia Blvd. Feel free to circle around twice. Teachers and staff will be lined up along the street looking forward to seeing you.
Thursday, 5/20 (Parade Day) - There will be no school for students on this day. Daycare will be available 7:00 AM - 6:00 PM.
Report Cards will be mailed out by 5/28.
LOST AND FOUND - Please have your child check the Lost and Found for any items they may be missing.
If your child has medication or an inhaler in the office, please remember to pick it up before summer break. We will dispose of anything not collected.
Fundraiser Coordinator Needed: The Cookie Dough/Magazine Sale Fundraiser is in need of a coordinator for the 2021-22 school year. Service hours can be earned. Please call the school office, 562-920-9902, if interested.
VCS Used Uniform Sale: To get ready for the Used Uniform Sale, students may wear free dress the last week of school, within dress code guidelines.


Middle School  
8th Grade Picnic at Liberty Park is on Tuesday 5/18 - Please have your student pack a sack lunch that day.
Last Day of School for 8th Grade is 5/19 - Students will be dismissed at 10:30 AM, after Graduation Rehearsal.
Last Day of School for 7th Grade is 5/20 - Students will be dismissed at 11:30 AM.
Europe Trip '22! Students (incoming 9th grade - 12th grade) will explore important historical and cultural sites in Berlin, Dresden and Munich in Germany, Lucerne and Zurich in Switzerland, Prague in the Czech Republic and Amsterdam in the Netherlands. WorldStrides offers the Advantage Payment Plan which allows you to pay $199 upon enrollment and then only $199 each month thereafter. If you've paid at least 40% of the total by the time we leave in May, you can pay the rest after the trip! Summer Jazz Camp during the week of July 26-30 from 8:00 - 10:00 AM. Here is the registration for the camp.  Please contact Eric Kooi at for details. Students who would like to attend the jazz camp and orientation class should sign up for the 10:30 AM orientation class time.
Summer Office Hours: We are in the office the week of May 24, Monday - Thursday 8:00 AM - 3:00 PM. Closed Memorial Day, 5/31. Beginning 6/1, we are open only on Tuesdays from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM and return from summer break on 7/26, Monday - Friday 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

High School
High School summer office hours - 8:00 AM-1:00 PM, Monday-Thursday.
Senior Blessing: Seniors and their Parents are invited to Senior Blessing Monday, May 17 at 7:00 PM at VCHS Defender Wall Plaza for an evening of worship and senior memories. Summer Computer Aided Drafting Class Brought to you by Epic RobotZ. Mr. Rietveld will be teaching a summer introduction to SolidWorks CAD class for incoming 9-12 graders, no CAD experience is necessary! There will be three sessions: Session 1 May 31-June 3, Session 2 June 7-June 10, Session 3 June 14-June 17. Each session will be Monday-Thursday 3:00 PM-6:00 PM

Exam Week at VCHS is 5/17 - 5/19
  • All students will be remote, we will not have students on campus.
  • Teachers will be providing specific information for each class regarding how to access and complete exams.
  • Exams this year will be organized by class period, not subject area as it has been in the past.

The VCHS yearbook for this year will be arriving sometime mid-summer due to Covid-related delays. When the yearbooks are at school and ready to be picked up, the school will email all parents and students. Reminder - all students receive a yearbook as part of tuition, no extra fees are required.

ABC YOUNG LIFE Virtual 5K - Join in this opportunity to get outdoors, stay active, connect with family and enjoy walking or running - all while supporting the mission of ABC Young Life in our local area.
