Middle School

Thank you, VCMS families! Because of your incredibly generous donations, Serve Club was able to put together 100 hygiene kits for Kingdom Causes! Each kit included toiletries, snacks, socks, games, food gift cards, and other essential items. Kingdom Causes shared that they had run out of hygiene kits just the day before, so our donations couldn’t have come at a better time! On behalf of VCMS Serve Club, we can’t thank you enough for helping our students serve others in a meaningful way. Your generosity made this project possible, and we are so grateful for your support!

VCHS Home Football Games: Home football games are great community events, and we encourage you to attend. With that in mind, we also want to remind you that while security will be present at the game, faculty and staff will not be providing direct supervision of students. As middle school students become more independent and are given more freedom at football games, this can sometimes lead to them making poor choices. Please help by providing supervision and reminding them to behave appropriately while having fun at the game. Thank you for your help.

IT’S HOCO SPIRIT WEEK AT VCMS! We LOVE getting into the Homecoming spirit here at VCMS, and we’ve got a fun week of dress-up days planned! Students must dress appropriately and stay within dress code. These are not free dress days. If students choose to not participate, they must wear their school uniform.

MONDAY — JERSEY DAY
Rep your favorite team or player and wear a jersey.

TUESDAY — RHYME WITHOUT REASON
Grab a friend (or a group!) and dress as two totally unrelated things that rhyme.
Example: Taylor Swift & Gift, Hot Dog & Frog, Queen & Jelly Bean, Skater & Waiter.

WEDNESDAY — COMFY DAY
Keep it cozy! Wear your favorite comfy clothes, sweats, or school-appropriate PJs.

THURSDAY — CLASS COLOR DAY

FRIDAY — VC SPIRIT DAY
Finish the week strong in your VC gear and Defender colors!

VCS Harvest Festival - Please check out the link below to find a way to get involved and help us make this year’s event a success. Harvest is a Valley Christian tradition made possible through the generous support of our VC school community and friends! Questions? Harvest@vcschools.org. CLICK HERE TO GET INVOLVED

Attention Parents of High Schoolers - Mark your Calendar - Monday, 8/31, 7:00 PM - SAS Meeting - Are you interested in working with a team of parents to raise funds in support of Scholarships for Seniors and the VCHS National Honor Society? Scholastic Arts Society is a great place for you. There will be a SAS Meeting in the Verhoeven College and Career Center located in the high school office building. SAS is a parent-run group that supports the VCHS National Honor Society. This committee meeting will plan and execute SAS initiatives and events for the year, including the NHS Induction luncheon for students who apply and are accepted. All are welcome and it is a great way to earn service hours. We currently have open board positions. Please contact Tracy Sturm with any questions at tracysturm@remax.net.

Please mark your calendars for VCHS MAP Testing: Tuesday, 9/8 and Tuesday, 9/15. See the email sent home for more details, but parents of Juniors and Seniors should note that their students will not start school until 9:20 AM on those testing days.

Senior Parents — Save the Date! Monday, September 14 at 6:30 PM, the VCHS counselors will host a College Information Meeting to walk you through the college application process for your senior. More details to come!

VCHS Attendance - For pre-arranged attendance needs or anything you may know about in advance. (vacations, appointments, extended illness, etc.), submit a "Student Logistics" notification via Veracross in the Parent Portal. Anything you know about ahead of time should be submitted through the Veracross Portal. For unexpected "same-day" situations like unexpected illness, late arrivals, emergencies, etc., contact the Attendance Desk at: 562-865-0281, ext. 227 or hsattendance@vcschools.org  Please give the Attendance office at least one hour notice before a student needs to be picked up to leave campus. By giving advanced notice, your student can be ready and waiting when you need them to be, and we can minimize class interruptions. Thank you for your consideration!
