The Blood Drive is coming back to Valley Christian! Tomorrow, Tuesday, April 14, 8:30 AM-2:15 PM. The American Red Cross is partnering with VCHS Service Leadership for students and adults to donate blood in the High School Legacy Chapel. Did you know that 1 pint of blood saves three lives? If you donate, you will also receive 1 service hour. Students will sign up on campus. Parents, please sign up by emailing Sienna Cadarette at scadarette26@vcschools.org. We are excited to partner with you!

Preschool

TK/Kindergarten Orientation for the 2026-27 school year will be held on Monday, 4/13 at 6:30 PM: This meeting is for parents of students who will start TK or Kindergarten in August 2026. You'll meet the kindergarten teaching team as well as learn about important details, including "A Day in The Life of a Kindergartner" and kindergarten assessment.

Looking Ahead: Summer 2026 - VCPS will be hosting an 8-week summer program. June 1 - July 24 (closed June 19 and July 3). Please fill out the Google form Summer Preschool to sign up! It's sure to be a summer filled with lots of fun! Summer is for all current preschoolers (even those entering TK or Kindergarten). Deadline to register is Friday, April 17!

Now accepting applications: Preschool re-enrollment is now complete and we are accepting applications for new families to join our campus. The application can be found here, or call the preschool office for more information and to schedule a tour at (562) 850-0050.

Trike-A-Thon: All children are invited to trike, scoot, or bike around the parking lot while we raise money for the preschool campus. Save the date for Friday, April 17th. Please plan to drop off your child's bike, trike, or scooter and helmet to the preschool parking lot. The driveway gates will close promptly at 8:45am. Parents are invited to cheer on their preschooler during their ride time.

6th Grade Parents - VCMS Cheer Tryouts for the 2026-27 school year will be held on April 27th, 28th and 30th from 3:15-4:30 PM in the middle school chapel. For more details, students can stop by the elementary school office to pick up an informational packet.

6th Grade Students will be going to Science Camp April 15-17.

Spirit Day Game On! - Thursday, April 30 - Dress in your favorite sport or sports team/gear.  Spirit day is optional. If you choose not to participate, please come in uniform.

Skatedogs Mobile Skateboard Park will be offering an 8-session class for students in K-6th at the elementary campus on Fridays, beginning 4/10. Information and registration forms may be found here. Class space is limited and early registration is recommended.

No School for Kindergarten Students on Friday, 5/1 for both half-day and full-day kindergarten students, while we test next year’s kindergartners.

MAPS Testing for students in grades K-6th will take place 4/20 through 5/8. Testing will be at various times throughout the day depending on the classroom schedule. Please make sure your student gets a good night's rest, eats breakfast, and arrives at school on time.

Save the Date for The Art Show & Ice Cream Social on Thursday, May 7, 6:00‐8:00 PM.  Come and enjoy the creativity of our elementary students! Drop in any time between 6:00-8:00 PM and wander through classrooms to admire the masterpieces from this year's art program! Kona Ice will be served and the 4th graders will be performing on their recorders. This is a night of fine arts that you don't want to miss! Fast food lunch drop offs should only be used for birthdays and emergencies. This should NOT be a weekly or daily occurrence for your child.

Student Lunch Orders: Just a quick reminder that lunch orders through GPSPay.net can be placed until 9:00 PM the night before. We hope this helps as there are only a limited number of emergency lunches available each day.

Lost and Found - Please have your child check the Lost and Found for any items they may be missing. Any items leftover at the end of the month will be donated to the VCS Pep Squad for their used uniform sale.

Pop Tabs: We are partnering with The Ronald McDonald House to help families in their time of need by collecting Pop Tabs. Students may bring in their pop tabs at any time.

The Concert Choir (beginner/intermediate ensemble) can be joined without an audition. A signup sheet is posted in the HS Music Room (C32) along with Audition Forms.  Audition Forms are also available at the MS and HS offices. Feel free to attend even if you’ve never been to a meeting before to learn more about this group. The SAS supports the VCHS National Honor Society. Senior Families- Save the date! Senior Blessing will take place on Monday, May 18 at 7pm at Bell One Christian Reformed Church in Bellflower. You won’t want to miss this special evening of worship and celebration. Be on the look out for invitations being mailed to your home!

Grad Night Bus Sign Ups will take place on Thursday and Friday, April 16 and 17 at lunch. Seniors and parents should refer to the email sent home on April 10 to make sure all items they need to complete are finished before the bus sign-ups. Congratulations to Team 4415, EPIC Robotz, for being second place finalists at the San Gabriel Valley Regional competition last weekend. The team made it into the finals in a surprise upset of the #2 ranked alliance. The team also earned the Industrial Design Award for its unique Spindexer used inside the robot to index game pieces. The team is looking forward to the possibility of competing at the state championships in April.

Chapel Offerings: Thank you to those who participated. We were able to purchase 10 pairs of new children's shoes and collected 76 pairs of gentle used shoes. What a blessing!

LATE START - We will have a late start tomorrow, Wednesday, April 8. Classes will begin at 9 AM. Morning buses will run at their usual times. Students arriving early will be supervised at the lunch tables or the Library/Commons room. 

POPS CONCERT! On Friday, 4/10 at 7:00 PM - VCMS will be presenting an evening of pops music featuring the orchestra, chamber orchestra, concert band, and wind ensemble. The concert will be held in the Legacy Chapel at Valley Christian High School, 17700 Dumont Ave, Cerritos

VCMS Cheer Tryouts for the 2026-27 school year will be held on April 27th, 28th and 30th from 3:15-4:30 PM. For more details, please stop by the VCMS or VCES Offices to pick up an informational packet.

VCHS Pep Squad 2026–2027 season tryouts are almost here!  

  • Song tryouts will be held on Saturday, April 11th at VCHS. The day will begin with a dance clinic from 9:00 AM–10:45 AM, followed by a 15-minute break, and auditions will take place from 11:00–11:30 AM.
  • Cheer tryouts will be held April 13th–15th at VCHS from 3:30–5:00 PM each day.

Congratulations to Team 4415, EPIC Robotz, for being second place finalists at the San Gabriel Valley Regional competition last weekend. The team made it into the finals in a surprise upset of the #2 ranked alliance. The team also earned the Industrial Design Award for its unique Spindexer used inside the robot to index game pieces. The team is looking forward to the possibility of competing at the state championships in April.

JSB (Junior Senior Banquet) ticket sales have been extended through Wednesday, April 8th. JSB takes place on April 24th at The Reef on the Water in Long Beach Harbor (next door to the Queen Mary). The theme is “Paradise Palms.” Valley Students must purchase their individual tickets with their parents at this link. Tickets are $130 per person. VCHS students may only buy a second ticket for a Non-VCHS Guest.  Students who wish to purchase a ticket for another VCHS student can be present at the ticket purchase to give their payment information or reimburse their date. Seat selection will take place April 13th-15th (April 13th seniors only), and guest forms are due by April 15th.

VCHS Choir Auditions & Praise Team Auditions for the 2026-2027 school year will take place on Tuesday, April 14 & 21 from 5:00-9:00 PM & Wednesday, April 22 from 3:00-6:00 PM.  Choir auditions are for Women’s Ensemble and Madrigals (advanced ensembles). The Concert Choir (beginner/intermediate ensemble) can be joined without an audition. A signup sheet is posted in the HS Music Room (C32) along with Audition Forms.  Audition Forms are also available at the MS and HS offices. You must sign up for a time slot and bring a completed audition form with you to the audition in order to be considered. You'll meet the kindergarten teaching team as well as learn about important details, including "A Day in The Life of a Kindergartner" and kindergarten assessment.

Elementary School

Fast food lunch drop offs should only be used for birthdays and emergencies. This should NOT be a weekly or daily occurrence for your child.

Student Lunch Orders: Just a quick reminder that lunch orders through GPSPay.net can be placed until 9:00 PM the night before. We hope this helps as there are only a limited number of emergency lunches available each day.

Skatedogs Mobile Skateboard Park will be offering an 8-session class for students in K-6th at the elementary campus on Fridays, beginning 4/10. Information and registration forms may be found here. Class space is limited and early registration is recommended.

Spring Enrichment Classes: Classes will be held on TUESDAYS - 3:00-4:00 PM, for five weeks, 3/17 - 4/21. Classes offered are Crafts, Dance/Fitness, Knitting, Wiffle Ball, and Handbells Classes do fill up quickly. Information and registration form can be found here.

Trot for Technology will be held this Friday, March 27, 8:15 - 11:45 AM - Each year we host a jog-a-thon fundraiser to raise money for elementary school technology. Be part of this exciting challenge and help VCES students raise $40,000.00 to fund classroom technology. Parents may help students seek pledges from family members, friends, neighbors, co-workers, etc. Donations may be made for a predetermined dollar amount or per lap with students. Donations may also be made online. Information and pledge envelopes will be sent home with students. Please join us for our annual Trot-for-Technology on Friday, March 27! Volunteers needed! SPRING BREAK DAYCARE - Monday, March 30 – Thursday, April 2 - 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM. – PLEASE CLICK THE LINK & REGISTER ASAP   Our daycare will be open for Spring Break: Minimum of 15 students required for us to open. Staff Appreciation Week is March 23–27! This year’s theme is “Our Staff Is Popular.” We’re transforming the Lounge into the Emerald City and planning a week filled with lots of food, sweet treats, and a few special surprises. The High School Orchestra and Wind Ensemble will be giving a pre-tour concert in the High School Legacy Chapel this  Wednesday, March 25 at 7:00 PM. The group will be touring the east coast and participating in patriotic concerts in recognition of America’s 250 Anniversary in 2026. There is a series of 250 concerts being put on in celebration of 250 years and our high school instrumental groups will be one of them. A parent meeting will take place after the concert.

Senior Off-Campus Lunch will be this Friday, March 27. Senior parents, encourage your students to plan ahead, drive carefully, and be back on time.

Scholarships for Seniors - Parents, please remind your students that the last day to submit scholarship applications which are donated by VC supporters is Friday, March 27, the last day before Spring Break. Tickets to the April 22nd Senior Trip to Catalina Island are now on sale through March 31st at this link! The tickets are $85 per person and cover transportation (boat and bus) between the school and the port. There was a discrepancy on the deadline date between the Google and payment forms, so we extended the ticket purchase deadline to March 31st to avoid confusion and ensure everyone has the opportunity to purchase a ticket. The form will also have links to a variety of activity vendors for students who want to arrange that. Please check their websites carefully for reservation requirements, age limits, and liability release policies.

See's Candies Fundraiser: Preschool will be selling See's Candies for the Easter holiday. Order must be returned to preschool by this  Thursday, 3/19 at 10:00 AM. 

Graduation photos for children moving on to TK or Kindergarten will be this Thursday 3/19. Children who do NOT attend this day may stop by between 9:00-10:00 AM to take their picture. The children can come dressed in their "Sunday best", and will wear a maroon cap with a gold tassel (picture 1), and maroon gown with cap and gold tassel (picture 2). 

Chapel Offerings: We are marching through March as we partner with 1st Artesia CRC and SOLES4SOULS by collecting gently-used shoes and purchasing new shoes (from chapel offerings) for families in need.

You'll meet the kindergarten teaching team as well as learn about important details, including "A Day in The Life of a Kindergartner" and kindergarten assessment.

No School for Kindergarten Students on Friday, 5/1 for both half-day and full-day kindergarten students, while we test next year’s kindergartners.

VCHS Pep Squad 2026–2027 season tryouts are almost here!  

  • Song tryouts will be held on Saturday, April 11th at VCHS. The day will begin with a dance clinic from 9:00 AM–10:45 AM, followed by a 15-minute break, and auditions will take place from 11:00–11:30 AM.

  • Cheer tryouts will be held April 13th–15th at VCHS from 3:30–5:00 PM each day.

Valley Christian Schools' high school robotics team, EPIC Robotz, will be competing at the LA District competition March 21st and 22nd. To watch the matches and cheer our team on, visit https://frc-events.firstinspires.org/watch. Matches will take place from 10:50 AM -7:15 PM on Saturday, March 21st and 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM on Sunday, March 22nd. The competition is open to the public and free to attend at DaVinci High School, 201 N Douglas St. in El Segundo.

Tickets to the April 22nd Senior Trip to Catalina Island are now on sale through March 31st at this link! The tickets are $85 per person and cover transportation (boat and bus) between the school and the port. There was a discrepancy on the purchase deadline date between the Google and payment forms, so we extended the ticket purchase deadline to March 31st to ensure everyone has the opportunity to purchase a ticket. The form will also have links to a variety of activity vendors for students who want to arrange that. Please check their websites carefully for reservation requirements, age limits, and liability release policies.

JSB (Junior Senior Banquet) tickets on sale March 19-31st for $130 per person. JSB takes place on April 24th at The Reef on the Water in Long Beach Harbor (next door to the Queen Mary). The theme is “Paradise Palms.” Please note that VCHS students may only buy a second ticket for a Non-VCHS Guest. Valley Students must purchase their individual tickets with their parents, so students who wish to purchase a ticket for another VCHS student can be present at the ticket purchase to give their payment information or reimburse their date. Seat selection will take place April 13th-15th (April 13th seniors only), and guest forms are due by April 15th.

Friday, 3/20 - VCHS will be hosting a SCSBOA (Southern California Schools Band and Orchestra Association) Festival on campus. Several schools will be attending and performing for adjudicators. The VCHS Wind Ensemble will perform at 9:15 AM and the Orchestra will perform at 9:45 AM in the Gym. Parent volunteers are needed to help in 4 shifts: 7:30-10:00 AM, 9:45 AM-noon, 11:45 AM-2:30 PM, and 2:15-5:00 PM. LATE START - We will have a late start day on Thursday, March 12. Classes will begin at 9 AM. Morning buses will run at their usual times. Students arriving early will be supervised at the lunch tables or the Library/Commons room.

VCMS Spring Athletics Is Coming! VCMS Spring Athletics will be offering the following sports this season: Boys and Girls soccer, Boys baseball, Boys Volleyball and Girls Flag Football.  Students who were interested attended informational meetings during school. We are excited for a great spring season!

Save The Date! The VCMS Science Fair will be held on Thursday, 3/26

VCHS Pep Squad 2026–2027 season tryouts are almost here!  

  • Song tryouts will be held on Saturday, April 11th at VCHS. The day will begin with a dance clinic from 9:00 –10:45 AM, followed by a 15-minute break, and auditions will take place from 11:00–11:30 AM.

  • Cheer tryouts will be held April 13th–15th at VCHS from 3:30–5:00 PM each day.

8th Grade Dance Planning Meeting - The meeting is Monday, 3/23, 7:00 PM in the high school library.

8th Grade Parents - Please mark your calendar with the following important dates:

  • VCHS Check-In Days - Monday OR Tuesday, 8/3/26 or 8/4/26 - you pick a day to come in for school photos, book order pick up, do some school clothes shopping, iPad pick up, and more!

  • New Student Orientation Day - Monday, 8/10/26, 8:15-11:30 AM - Orientation Day for all new high school students

  • First Day of School - Tuesday, 8/11/26 will be the first full day of school for all students

Broadway Showcase 2026 tickets are on sale now. Valley Christian students and faculty can purchase tickets for a flat rate of $20 per ticket for the 2:00 PM performance on Friday, March 13th. Visit www.vcschools.org/arts/broadway-showcase for more information.

8th Grade Parents - if you were unable to attend the VCHS Registration Night, we will be sending the packets from that night home with your student. Please note - there is a class registration form in the packet that should be completed by the end of this week. It can be turned in at the middle school or high school office. If you have any questions about the packet or the form, please contact the high school office at hsinfo@vcschools.org.

SCHEDULE CHANGE! This week Wednesday and Thursday will be different than usual.

  • Wednesday, March 11 - 8:15 AM start - Block Odd Schedule
  • Thursday, March 12 - 9:00 AM start - Block Even Schedule
  • Friday, March 13 - no school for teacher inservice
 
Senior Parents: Encourage your student to check out the scholarships that are posted in the High School Student Course in Canvas - these are scholarships sponsored by generous VC donors and supporters. All scholarship applications are due on Friday, March 27 (the last day before Spring Break) and should be submitted on Canvas. Check out the scholarships for athletes; students going into trades, music, visual arts, or elementary education; students attending certain Christian colleges; students highly committed to service; and students who are part of National Honor Society. A summary of the scholarships is available for parents to review is available in the parent portal on the school website.
 
SENIOR ANNOUNCEMENTS! Attention SENIOR PARENTS! Two VERY IMPORTANT events have ticket sales coming soon!
  • Tickets to the Senior Trip to Catalina Island will be on sale March 9-13, with the trip taking place on April 22nd. The tickets are $85 per person, which covers the transportation (boat and bus transportation). The form will also have links to a variety of activity vendors for students who want to arrange that. Please check their websites carefully for reservation requirements, age limits, and liability release policies.
  • Tickets to JSB (Junior Senior Banquet) will be on sale March 19-27 for $130 per person. JSB takes place on April 24th. More details about the location and theme are coming soon!
 
Staff Appreciation Week is March 23–27! This year’s theme is “Our Staff Is Popular.” We’re transforming the Lounge into the Emerald City and planning a week filled with lots of food, sweet treats, and a few special surprises. Thank you in advance for helping us shower our staff with the love they deserve—we couldn’t make this week happen without you and your generosity!
