This notice is to inform you of a recent cybersecurity incident that impacted PowerSchool, a company that provides Valley Christian Schools with student information management software. We understand that on December 28, 2024, PowerSchool discovered that an unauthorized actor gained access to certain customer data, potentially including some information related to Valley Christian Schools. We also understand that PowerSchool is working diligently to address this situation and provide all necessary support, and we are working alongside them to keep apprised of their investigation. We acknowledge this may be concerning news. As always, our top priority is to ensure the safety and security of our students, staff and community. We will share further updates as relevant information becomes available.

The Blood Drive is coming back to Valley Christian! Tomorrow, Tuesday, January 14th, 8:30 AM - 2:15 PM. The American Red Cross is partnering with VCHS Service Leadership for students and adults to donate blood in the High School Legacy Chapel. Did you know that one pint of blood saves three lives? If you donate you will also receive one service hour. Students will sign up on campus. The Spirit Store will be open tomorrow, Tuesday, January 14th from 3:00 - 4:00 PM. The Spirit store is located on the High School Campus in room B-23. They will also be selling soccer scarfs only at the soccer game tonight, Monday from 5:00 - 6:00 PM.

Broadway Showcase 2025 will take place on March 6th and 7th, 2025 at the La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts. 
 
BROADWAY SHOWCASE MANDATORY PARENT MEETING: Parents of all students who are a part of Broadway Showcase MUST attend the Parent Organizational Meeting. Your attendance at this meeting is REQUIRED in order for your child to be able to participate. You can either attend the meeting in person or join virtually via this Zoom LINK. Preschool

Parent/Teacher Conferences will take place the week of January 27-30. This is a time for Pre-K parents (Mrs. Ericka and Ms. Jamie's class) and parents of children in Ms. Tricia's class who will attend TK next year (Birthday between September and December) to meet with teachers and discuss their child's growth and development. Sign-up sheets will be available on Wednesday, January 15th.

Colder Weather Reminder: Please remember to label your child's jacket with their name.

Elementary School

6th Grade Families - Please join us for the Middle School Open House on Saturday, February 1st 12-1:30 PM.  This is a great opportunity for you to tour our campus, meet our staff and hear all about what VCMS has to offer. This is also a great opportunity for you to invite your friends/family who might be interested in attending VCMS. Lunch from TK Burger will be provided. We can't wait to meet you!

January 29 - 6th grade students will take a field trip to the middle school campus to experience a middle school chapel and enjoy lunch on the middle school campus.

MAPS Testing for students in grades K-6th will take place 1/13 - 1/24. Testing will be at various times throughout the day depending on the classroom schedule. Please make sure your student gets a good night's rest, eats breakfast, and arrives at school on time.

4th Grade Students will be going to the Adobe Brick Museum this Friday, January 17.

Students in grades 5-8 are invited to participate in the upcoming Fine Arts Festival. Students may participate by playing their band/orchestra instrument, singing, or playing a piano solo. All participants will perform at VCES on 2/11. The best performances will represent VCS at the Interscholastic Fine Arts Festival, on 02/27, in Chino. Students and parents can find out more from their music teacher.

Service Hours Opportunity: Do you enjoy listening to students perform? Parents are needed as door monitors for the Fine Arts Festival tryouts Tuesday, 2/11, from 2:30-5:30 PM at the elementary campus. Please email Miss Peppel at npeppel@vcschools.org, if you are available to help.

Coding Class: Do you want your child to learn how to code? Come check out the beginner courses for newbie coders and experienced coders. Classes will be held on Thursdays 3:00-4:00 PM, beginning 1/16 through 2/27 at VCES. Chess Wizards - The after-school chess class for students in grades K-6th will be held on Tuesdays on the VCES campus beginning on 1/21 through 3/11, 3:00-4:00 PM. Information and registration can be found here. Information and registration can be found here.

Spirit Day - Pajama Day, Friday, January 31. Come dressed in your favorite jammies! Spirit Day is optional. If you choose not to participate, please be in uniform. Here is the flyer.

Pop Tabs: We are partnering with The Ronald McDonald House to help families in their time of need by collecting Pop Tabs. Students may bring in their pop tabs at any time.

Lost and Found - Please have your child check the Lost and Found for any items they may be missing. Any leftover items will be donated on the last day of the month to Affordable Treasures.

Middle School

Parents/Guardians, your students' 2nd quarter grades were finalized on Dec 21, 2024. You should have received an email before Christmas with the report attached. You can also access the grade report using your parent account in PowerSchool. Once you are signed in, go to "Student Reports" on the left. Please contact the middle school office if you have any questions.

Our winter sports season has begun!  If you would like to come support our girls volleyball and boys basketball teams, click here for the game schedule. Please note, games are subject to change for various reasons, so make sure to check the calendar regularly.

Report Cards - were mailed home via USPS Mail last week and an email was sent home with more information about the report card and transcript. If you did not receive the paper mailing or the email, please contact hsinfo@vcschools.org.

Senior Parents - The next senior off campus lunch is this Friday, 1/17. Please remind your students to drive carefully, plan ahead for where they will eat, and order ahead if possible. Students who return late will forfeit the privilege of leaving campus for the next senior off campus lunch.

Senior Yearbook Ad Reminder - The final deadline for submitting senior yearbook recognition ads is Tuesday, 1/21. Don't miss out on this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Students leaving school early - Parents, PLEASE try to give the attendance office at least an hour notice, if not more, before picking up your student. The advantage of calling ahead or emailing sdoornbos@vcschools.org is that your student can be ready and waiting when you pick them up, and the school can minimize the amount of class interruptions for students and teachers that go on during the school day. VCS is excited to offer Parenting the Love and Logic Way for parents of children preschool through high school, presented by Dawn DeYoung (Kindergarten teacher) and Sarah Hefner (First Grade teacher). This presentation will be held on six Tuesday evenings, January 14, 21, 28, February 11, 18, 25, 6:30- 8:30 PM on the elementary campus. Childcare will be offered free of charge. This presentation is open to all VCS families and friends of VCS families. Please complete the registration form if you would like to attend. Registration and payment  is due by this Wednesday, January 8th. Join us at Moms in Prayer in 2025! Come occasionally or weekly as we pray for our children and schools. Service hours can be earned. Happy New Year and THANK YOU from the VCHS staff for the thoughtful cards and gifts from parents and students received during the Christmas season. We appreciate your support, encouragement, and generosity!

Welcome to two new staff members for 2nd semester!

The Sophomore Retreat will be held on Friday, 1/10! There will be no sophomore classes at school this day. However, parents should still contact the Attendance Desk if a student is going to be absent. Please see the email sent out Nov. 12 for more details. REMINDER: On this day, Parents will need to pick up their students at the churches at 6:30 PM. The girls will be at Arbor Road Church in Lakewood and the boys will be at Generations Church in Cerritos. If you have any questions, please email hsinfo@vcschools.org.

HIGH SCHOOL OPENER AND CLOSER: High School students who signed up to participate in Opener and Closer must plan to attend the first rehearsal today, Monday, January 6th from 6:00-9:00 PM in the VCHS Legacy Chapel. If you do not attend the first rehearsal, we will assume you are no longer planning to participate, unless you contact us in advance.

HIGH SCHOOL AUDITIONS: “DONNA SUMMER BACKUP DANCER” - Auditions to become one of the “backup dancers” for the Donna Summer number will take place on Wednesday, January 8th in the VCHS Legacy Chapel at 7:00 PM. Come prepared to dance and learn choreography.

HIGH SCHOOL AUDITIONS: MEN’S SPECIALTY:  “Sit Down You’re Rockin’ the Boat” - Any additional men who are interested in joining the men’s specialty number, please come to the first rehearsal on Wednesday, January 8th at 5:00 PM

VCS wishes you a Merry Christmas, celebrating the joy and peace of knowing Jesus as our Savior. Christmas Break begins Thursday, 12/19 with 11:30 AM dismissal. (No school for HS students Thursday, 12/19, unless they are making up for an exam.) Bus service will run at 11:30 AM. Classes resume on Monday, January 6, 2025. All campus offices will close Thursday, 12/19 at 12:00 PM and open again Monday, 1/6/25.
 
The Business office will be open for limited hours during the two weeks (Dec 23 - Jan 5). However, it is fully open on December 23rd and 30th.
 
Please consider giving to the VCS Annual Fund Drive. The VCS Board of Directors and two generous donors are putting up a $150,000 match. We could use your help. All donations are tax deductible and you can give at www.vcschools.org/give.
 
Thank you to all the families who came to the Cocoa and Carols program last week. We are so thrilled to share the joy of the season with you. Thanks to all our students who shared the gift of music and to all the parents who volunteered to help make this evening a blessing. Thanks to all of our music teachers for making this a special memory. 
 
Young Alumni Day: Come back to visit us on Wednesday, 12/18! The open house for VCHS Grads from 2020-24 will be Wednesday 12/18 - 11:30 AM-12:30 PM in the High School Library. We will have drawings for prizes beginning at 11:50 AM. It will be an open house environment with light refreshments being served. We would love to see you!

Variable Tuition (Financial Aid): Grades TK (Full Day) – 12th Grade.  We want to inform you that FAST (Financial Aid School Tuition) has updated its website. Please visit our school’s website for more details and to access the new FAST link. 

This year, FAST has introduced a new feature that allows it to automatically obtain your Federal and State tax information from the IRS with your consent and approval. All families applying for financial assistance must provide consent, even if you didn’t file tax returns. Christmas Program: Please join us TONIGHT at 6:30 PM as our preschool children share the joy of Christmas through song. Desserts and Cocoa will be served after the performance. (Children may be dropped off in their classroom at 6:15 PM). Children should dress in their Christmas best.

Elementary School

Dear VCES Families, may this Christmas bring you peace, joy, and precious time with family, and may the New Year be filled with blessings, good health, and happiness. Thank you for your continued support throughout the year. 1st grade students will be going to the Phantom Projects Theater to see Cat in the Hat on Wednesday, 12/18.

Dismissal at 11:30 AM on Thursday, 12/19 for Christmas Break.

VCES Daycare will be offering full-day daycare on Friday, December 20th, from 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM. To ensure we can staff appropriately, we kindly ask that you complete the attached form by Monday, December 16th, if you plan to send your student that day. Minimum Enrollment Requirement: A minimum of 15 students is required to provide daycare on December 20th.

The VCS First Lego League teams competed in the Regional Tournament on Saturday, December 14 at La Canada High School.  There were a total of 36 teams at the tournament.  Congratulations to 1711 Kriller Whalez for finishing 2nd in Robot Game and earning an Engineering Excellence Award!  Congratulations to 1713 for earning the Breakthrough Award!   Great job to all our teams on a great season.  Thanks to our coaches and mentors for all the time and support they have given to our teams.

Festive Christmas Spirit Day - Thursday, 12/19. Show your school spirit by dressing in your best Holly Jolly clothes!  Spirit Day is optional. If you choose not to participate, please be in uniform.

Circuits, Robots, and Electric Cars! Valley Christian After School Science Club for grades K-6. Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday classes will be offered beginning December 4, 5 & 6 - 3:00-4:00 PM. Information will be sent home with students this week, registration can be found here.

Skatedogs Mobile Skateboard Park will be offering an 8-session class for students in K-6th at the elementary campus on Fridays, beginning 12/6. Information and registration forms may be found here. Class space is limited and early registration is recommended.

The VCS First Lego League teams competed in the Regional Tournament on Saturday, December 14 at La Canada High School.  There were a total of 36 teams at the tournament.  Congratulations to 1711 Kriller Whalez for finishing 2nd in Robot Game and earning an Engineering Excellence Award!  Congratulations to 1713 for earning the Breakthrough Award!   Great job to all our teams on a great season.  Thanks to our coaches and mentors for all the time and support they have given to our teams.

High School

Its Exam Week - - Monday-Wednesday, December 16-18! Some reminders about Exam Week:

  • The exam schedule is posted on the High School Student page in Canvas and in the Parent Portal on the school website.
  • Per school policy, individual exams may not be taken prior to "Exam Week".
  • Students who are unable to take their exam during the scheduled week (due to travel, illness, etc) will be given an "incomplete" grade in the course until the exam is completed.
  • Make-up exams for the fall semester will be administered on the last Thursday/Friday of Christmas vacation or after school during the first week of classes in January.  A proctoring fee of $30 (per exam) will be assessed except in the case of illness (please provide a doctor’s note). Arrangements must be made with the Assistant Principal.
  • Attendance during Exam Week: Please DO NOT schedule appointments between 8:00 AM and Noon during Exam Week. If your child is too sick to take exams, contact the Attendance Desk at 562-865-0281, ext. 227, or by emailing sdoornbos@vcschools.org.
  • Students may not enter or leave campus during the exam blocks (8:30-10:00 AM and 10:30 AM-12:00 PM).
  • Students should arrive on campus before 8:30 AM or between 10:00-10:30 AM (depending on their exam schedule). While on campus, students who are not taking exams will be required to be in a testing room or remain in the library for the duration of the testing period. If a student does not have an exam, he or she is not required to be on campus.
  • There is no school for VCHS students in the afternoon on exam days.

Second Semester Schedules: NOW is the time for your student to double-check their second semester schedule in PowerSchool! (Don't wait until a day or two before the semester starts!!) Use the main PowerSchool webpage to see which electives are closed and which are available. Your student can contact Mrs. Gardner, the registrar, Lgardner@vcschools.org or their counselor if they want to make any schedule changes.

The high school office will close for the Christmas break starting on Wednesday, 12/18 at 12:30 PM and will open again on Monday, 1/6/2025! If you need to contact the school during Christmas break, please email hsinfo@vcschools.org or call 562-865-0281 ext. 226. Emails and voicemails will be checked a few times a week. Come One Come All to the 4th Annual Cocoa & Carols event on Thursday, December 12th, 5:00 - 9:30 PM on the high school campus. This is an all-school Christmas music program celebrating Christ’s birth as a school community and enjoying the amazing music our students, staff, and volunteers have been working hard to prepare.   This is a huge event that brings more than 2,000 people to our high school campus. WE NEED EVERYONE INVOLVED TO MAKE THIS EVENT A SUCCESS! Please sign up to volunteer at Cocoa & Carols (hours count towards required Service Hours) and to donate food and/or drink itemsEvening activities will include performances by the VCS Bands, Orchestras, Choirs, Ensembles, and Handbells. Christmas Program: Please join us on Monday, 12/16 at 6:30 PM as our preschool children share the joy of Christmas through song. Desserts and Cocoa will be served after the performance. (Children may be dropped off in their classroom at 6:15 PM). Children should dress in their Christmas best.

Parent Volunteer Opportunity: Dessert donations, set-up/serve/clean-up volunteers are needed for our Christmas Program Desserts and Cocoa on 12/16. Check your email for the Sign-Up Genius was sent out 12/02.

Christmas Holiday Break Sign-Ups: Preschool will be open on 01/02 and 01/03 from 8:00am-4:00pm for those children who signed up to attend.

Elementary School

Tuesday, 12/10 - Kindergarten and 3rd Grade Christmas Concert. Please join us to ring in the Christmas Season with music, skits and song with our Kinder and 3rd grade program! Kindergarten students will perform at 6:30 PM and 3rd grade students perform at 7:30 PM. There will be a short intermission for the transition between grades. If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Peppel at npeppel@vcschools.org. The program will be held at BellOne Christian Reformed Church located at 17603 Ardmore Ave, Bellflower. 

VCES Daycare will be offering full-day daycare on Friday, December 20th, from 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM. To ensure we can staff appropriately, we kindly ask that you complete the attached form by Monday, December 16th, if you plan to send your student that day. Minimum Enrollment Requirement: A minimum of 15 students is required to provide daycare on December 20th.

Christmas Boutique is this week!  We are excited to get the kiddos thinking about others and reflecting the Lord's character of abundant provision and love, our God the ultimate giver. Congratulations to all three of our Valley Christian First Lego League teams!  All of them advanced to the Regional Tournament, which will be held on the weekend of December 14 and 15.

  • Team 1711 won Champions, Best Pit, and Best Merchandise awards.
  • Team 1712 won the Motivate award.
  • Team 1713 won the Breakthrough award and the Marketing Mastery Award.

5th and 6th Grade Girls Volleyball and Boys Basketball Evaluations will be held on Tuesday, December 10th and Wednesday, December 11th from 3-4:30pm on the elementary campus.  Students MUST attend both days of evaluations.  We are still looking for one more adult basketball coach and one adult volleyball coach. Circuits, Robots, and Electric Cars! Valley Christian After School Science Club for grades K-6. Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday classes will be offered beginning December 4, 5 & 6 - 3:00-4:00 PM. Information will be sent home with students this week, registration can be found here.

Skatedogs Mobile Skateboard Park will be offering an 8-session class for students in K-6th at the elementary campus on Fridays, beginning 12/6. Information and registration forms may be found here. Class space is limited and early registration is recommended.

Pop Tabs: We are partnering with The Ronald McDonald House to help families in their time of need by collecting Pop Tabs. Students may bring in their pop tabs at any time.

Lost and Found - Please have your child check the Lost and Found for any items they may be missing.  Any leftover items after 12/20 will be donated to Affordable Treasures.

God hears our prayers! Join other Valley moms at Moms in Prayer as we offer God our PRAISE, silent CONFESSION, THANKSGIVING, INTERCESSION for our own children, and prayers for STUDENTS, TEACHERS/STAFF and SCHOOL CONCERNS.  Anyone (students included) can leave prayer requests in the boxes in the school offices. The Long Beach Christmas Pageant will be held on Sunday, 12/8, 6:30-8:30 PM. Both the VCHS and VCMS handbell choirs will be playing between 7:00-8:30 PM at Long Beach CRC, 5559 E Wardlow Rd. Invite all to attend this free event! Five churches set up outdoor scenes to reflect the Christmas Story - complete with live actors and live animals. Dress warmly, walk the candle-lit path, and remember the true meaning of Christmas.

Young Alumni Day: Come back to visit us on Wednesday, 12/18! The open house for VCHS Grads from 2020-24 will be Wednesday 12/18 - 11:30 AM-12:30 PM in the High School Library. Variable Tuition (Financial Aid): Grades TK (Full Day) – 12th Grade.  We want to inform you that FAST (Financial Aid School Tuition) has updated its website. Please visit our school’s website for more details and to access the new FAST link. 

This year, FAST has introduced a new feature that allows it to automatically obtain your Federal and State tax information from the IRS with your consent and approval. All families applying for financial assistance must provide consent, even if you didn’t file tax returns. Preschool

Chapel Offering: Thank you to all families who have brought in chapel offerings! We exceeded our donation goal and brought in $230. We were able to purchase  six little tikes basketball hoops and  three Mickey Mouse light up rideable fire trucks for families in need. 

Cooler Weather: As the weather cools, please remember to write your child's name in his/her jacket! 

See's Candies Fundraiser is underway: Please support VCPS by purchasing See's Candies order through the fundraiser form (in child's file) OR through the Yum-Raising Link (sent via email). All forms and payments must be turned in by this Wednesday, 12/4 before 10:00 AM. Yum-Raising orders will be delivered directly to the person ordering.This is great for out of state family and friends.  Forms that are turned into preschool with payment will be available for pickup the following week at the preschool (date to be determined). Preschool will receive a larger return with orders turned in on 12/4.

Christmas Program: Please join us on Monday, 12/16 at 6:30 PM as our preschool children share the joy of Christmas through song. Desserts and Cocoa will be served after the performance. (Children may be dropped off in their classroom at 6:15 PM). Dress code assignments have been emailed out.

Parent Volunteer Opportunity: Dessert donations, set-up/serve/clean-up volunteers are needed for our Christmas Program Desserts and Cocoa on 12/16. Check your email for the Sign-Up Genius that was sent out today.

Christmas Holiday Break Sign-Ups went home before Thanksgiving break! All parents who would like their child to attend over Christmas break (Thursday 01/02-Friday 01/03) MUST sign up. Please check your child's file for the Christmas Break Daycare Sign-up sheet and return the form to your child's teacher by Friday 12/6.

Elementary School

Tuesday, 12/10 - Kindergarten and 3rd Grade Christmas Concert. Please join us to ring in the Christmas Season with music, skits and song with our Kinder and 3rd grade program! Kindergarten students will perform at 6:30 PM and 3rd grade students perform at 7:30 PM. The program will be held at BellOne Christian Reformed Church located at 17603 Ardmore Ave, Bellflower. 

The Kid's Christmas Boutique will be held 12/9-12/13 in our library. During this week, your child will be able to shop for family members and friends alike and choose from a wide array of low-cost gifts. A designated time slot is assigned to each class for shopping. Gifts are priced very reasonably, every single gift is under $8, with the vast majority $5 and under!  Please remember that there is no obligation to buy or to participate. Please see this link for more information and details. Order envelopes will be sent home with your child.

Parent Service Hours Opportunity - Annual Kid's Christmas Boutique.  The Parent Association needs volunteers to work the Boutique! Set-up on 12/6, daily sales assistance 12/9 - 12/13 (so much fun), and/or clean-up on 12/13. Sign up HERE.

Congratulations to all three of our Valley Christian First Lego League teams!  All of them advanced to the Regional Tournament, which will be held on the weekend of December 14 and 15.

  • Team 1711 won Champions, Best Pit, and Best Merchandise awards.
  • Team 1712 won the Motivate award.
  • Team 1713 won the Breakthrough award and the Marketing Mastery Award.

 

Every student at VCES will receive a yearbook. If you are looking for a creative way to tell your student, “I love you and I’m proud of you", a recognition ad can be placed in the yearbook here. More information can be found here. 5th & 6th Grade Athletics: We are in need of adult girls volleyball coaches and adult boys basketball coaches. These are paid positions! Circuits, Robots, and Electric Cars! Valley Christian After School Science Club for grades K-6. Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday classes will be offered beginning December 4, 5 & 6 - 3:00-4:00 PM. Information will be sent home with students this week, registration can be found here.

Skatedogs Mobile Skateboard Park will be offering an 8-session class for students in K-6th at the elementary campus on Fridays, beginning 12/6. Information and registration forms may be found here. Class space is limited and early registration is recommended.

VCES is looking forward to spreading joy this holiday season and we are partnering with Kingdom Causes for the Bellflower Community Christmas Toy Store.  This toy drive gives parents in the community an opportunity to purchase toys for their kids at a significantly discounted price.  Please see this link for the registry list.  

Pop Tabs: We are partnering with The Ronald McDonald House to help families in their time of need by collecting Pop Tabs. Students may bring in their pop tabs at any time.

Lost and Found - Please have your child check the Lost and Found for any items they may be missing.  Any leftover items after 12/20 will be donated to Affordable Treasures.

Change 4 Change- the 7th grade advisements are competing to see which advisement can bring in the most donations. Tuesday will be nickels, Wednesday is dimes, Thursday is quarters and Friday is paper (dollar) bills. All proceeds will go to the Long Beach Rescue Mission to help them meet the increase in needs at Christmas time. So dig into those couch cushions and join the fun!

You’re Invited! Join us 12/12 at 5:00 PM for Cocoa & Carols. Valley Christian Schools will be hosting a Christmas celebration with performances by the orchestras, bands, choirs, and handbell choirs, from our elementary, middle school and high school students. The Long Beach Christmas Pageant will be held on Sunday, 12/8, 6:30-8:30 PM. Both the VCHS and VCMS handbell choirs will be playing between 7:00-8:30 PM at Long Beach CRC, 5559 E Wardlow Rd. Invite all to attend this free event! Five churches set up outdoor scenes to reflect the Christmas Story - complete with live actors and live animals. Dress warmly, walk the candle-lit path, and remember the true meaning of Christmas.

Students leaving school early - Parents, PLEASE try to give the Attendance Office at least an hour notice (if not more) before picking up your student. The advantage of calling ahead or emailing sdoornbos@vcschools.org is that your student can be ready and waiting when you pick them up, and the school can minimize the amount of class interruptions that go on during the school day. VCHS Exams are December 16-18. Some reminders about Exam Week: 

  • The exam schedule is posted on the High School Student page in Canvas and in the Parent Portal on the school website.
  • Per school policy, individual exams may not be taken prior to "Exam Week".
  • Students who are unable to take their exam during the scheduled week (due to travel, illness, etc) will be given an "incomplete" grade in the course until the exam is completed.
  • Make-up exams for the fall semester will be administered on the last Thursday/Friday of Christmas vacation or after school during the first week of classes in January.  A proctoring fee of $30 (per exam) will be assessed except in the case of illness (please provide a doctor’s note). Arrangements must be made with the Assistant Principal.
  • Attendance during Exam Week: Please DO NOT schedule appointments between 8:00 AM and Noon during Exam Week. If your child is too sick to take exams, contact the Attendance Desk at 562-865-0281, ext. 227, or by emailing sdoornbos@vcschools.org.
  • Students may not enter or leave campus during the exam blocks (8:30-10:00 AM and 10:30 AM-12:00 PM).
  • Students should arrive on campus before 8:30 AM or between 10:00-10:30 AM (depending on their exam schedule). While on campus, students who are not taking exams will be required to be in a testing room or remain in the library for the duration of the testing period. If a student does not have an exam, he or she is not required to be on campus.
  • There is no school for VCHS students in the afternoon on exam days.
  • VCHS students are not allowed to visit other campuses until 2:45 PM.
  • Buses will run at regular times (8:00 AM drop off, 2:45 PM departure) on Monday-Wednesday.
  • The canteen and coffee shop will be open from 8:00-8:30 AM and 10:00-10:30 AM - Monday-Wednesday.
  • The library will be open until 2:30 PM, Monday-Wednesday.
  • Uniforms must be worn during finals, or students will not be allowed to take final exams.
  • There is no school for high school students on Thursday, 12/19, unless a make-up exam has been scheduled.

 

Senior Off Campus Lunch - The next senior off campus lunch will be this Friday, Dec. 6. Students who return late will not be allowed to leave campus the next time there is an off-campus lunch. We encourage the seniors to drive safely and plan ahead so that they are not rushed or returning late - consider ordering ahead on an app!

Senior Parents - The counseling department sent an email on Nov. 21 with information about Financial Aid as your students plan ahead for college. Please contact the high school office at hsinfo@vcschools.org if you did not receive that email!

NHS Students and Parents - please check the email that was sent on Nov. 22 and make sure you complete the form in that email before Christmas break - thank you! If you need the email sent again, please contact hsinfo@vcschools.org.

Senior Parents: The FAFSA is now live! Check your inbox for an email that was sent on Nov 21 for more information! Also, if you would like to learn more, please register for the SoFi webinar on Dec 3rd at 5pm. Register here. This webinar will cover everything you need to know about completing the FAFSA®. Registrants will get a copy of the recorded live event even if they cannot attend during the live date.

Junior "grad checks" have begun and every junior will have their individual meeting completed by the end of the semester.
