The week of October 21st is Red Ribbon Week, but at VCHS, we’ve decided to call our attention to all things that could be a danger zone in our lives–not just drugs. Instead of focusing on one thing, we want to give a week of focus to ask ourselves–are we trying to fill a void in our lives, or soothe ourselves, with anything other than Christ when only He can truly satisfy us? Our theme verse is Romans 12:2: “Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.” During “Mind the Void” Week, we will encourage our students to consider if they have any danger areas in their lives, even if they aren’t at the level of addiction. We will give them the opportunity to fast for a week from that habit, and our counselors will provide some resources to help.
Parent/Teacher Conferences are coming up the week of October 28. An email with instructions for signing up was sent on Thursday, 10/10. If you did not receive it, please contact the high school office by emailing hsinfo@vcschools.org or calling 562.865.0281, ext. 226.
