The Spirit Store will be open Tuesday, Feb. 10th - 3:00-4:00 PM. The Spirit Store sells VC t-shirts, sweatshirts, jackets, hats, and socks. It is located on the high school campus in room B23. Re-enrollment deadline is Sunday, Feb. 15th: Re-enrollment for the 2026–2027 school year began and instructions have already been sent to families via email. Please be sure to check your inbox (and spam/junk folder) if you have not yet seen the message. As a reminder, on January 22, you should have received an email introducing Veracross and inviting you to activate your parent account. If you did not receive either email or are experiencing any issues accessing or setting up your Veracross account, please contact our Help Desk at helpdesk@vcschools.org for assistance.

We are excited for this year's annual school fundraiser and auction event at the Mayne Event Center in Bellflower on February 20th. While tickets are sold out, there is still a way for you to offer your support and participation. Please visit our Amazon wish list to donate an item for the silent auction portion of the evening. Staff Appreciation Week is March 23–27 for all campuses! Every year we are amazed by the generosity of our families through donations and volunteer service. This year, the Parent Association would also love to showcase the talents and businesses within our community. If you have an expertise or connection you’d like to share as we celebrate our staff—or a service or item you’d like to donate for a raffle—we’d love to hear from you! (Do you work in the food industry, bake adorable cookies, craft in your sleep, offer facials or massages, etc.?) Student Lunch Orders: Just a quick reminder that lunch orders through GPSPay.net can be placed by 9:00 PM the night before. We hope this helps as there are only a limited number of emergency lunches available each day.

Service Hours Opportunity: Do you enjoy listening to students perform? Parents are needed as door monitors for the Fine Arts Festival tryouts Tuesday, 2/10, 2:30-5:30 PM at the elementary campus. Please email Miss Peppel at npeppel@vcschools.org, if you are available to help.

Students in Grades 5-8 are invited to participate in the upcoming Fine Arts Festival. Students may participate by playing their band/orchestra instrument, singing, or playing a piano solo. All tryout participants will perform at the VCES campus on 2/10, 3:00-5:00 PM. The best performances will represent VCS at the Interscholastic Fine Arts Festival, on 02/26, at CrossPoint Church in Chino. Students from other Southern California Christian schools will be participating as well. Students and parents can find out more from their music teacher.

Valentine's Day - Friday, 2/13, is a free dress day if you wear Red, Pink or Hearts. If students do not wish to participate, they should be in uniform.

VCES End of Trimester - Feb. 13. Report cards will be mailed the week of 2/23.

Tie-Dye Spirit Day - Friday, February 27. Come dressed as your favorite Tie-Dye Colors! Spirit Day is optional. If you choose not to participate, please be in uniform.

Chess Wizards - The after-school chess class for students in grades K-6th will be held on Tuesdays on the VCES campus beginning on 1/13 through 3/24, 3:00-4:00 PM. Information and registration can be found here. Information and registration can be found here.

Pop Tabs: We are partnering with The Ronald McDonald House to help families in their time of need by collecting Pop Tabs. Students may bring in their pop tabs at any time.

Middle School

Cold/Flu season is here, and we are in the thick of it! If your child is not feeling well, we kindly ask that you please keep them home. Students must be fever-free for 24 hours and without significant symptoms before returning to school. Thank you so much for helping to keep our campus healthy!

8th Grade Dance Planning Meeting - The meeting is on Tuesday, 2/23, 6:30 PM in the Verhoeven College and Career Center in the high school office building.

LAST CALL for Disneyland Forms/Payment - On Monday, May 18 our middle school students will have an opportunity to attend an end of the year field trip to Disneyland. Information/permission forms were sent home with your student on Friday, 1/16. Forms and payment are due to the middle school office no later than Wednesday, February 11. Due to Disneyland’s reservation requirements for group events, we will not be able to accept forms or payment after that date. Please call the middle school office with any questions.

Cheer Prep Clinic- Join us for the Cheer Team Prep Clinic on Saturday, 2/21, from 9:00–11:30 AM in the VCHS Legacy Chapel. This clinic is open to all 8th–11th grade students who currently attend or plan to attend VCS. The focus will be on the skills and techniques needed to prepare for the Varsity Cheer Team. The clinic will take place from 9:00–11:00 AM, followed by a short parent informational meeting immediately afterward. Our winter sports season is well underway! If you would like to come support our girls volleyball and boys basketball teams, click here for the game schedule. 8th GRADE PARENTS- Important information Below!

8th Grade Chapel Visit- This Wednesday, February 11, our 8th graders will visit the high school campus to join the high school chapel service. This is a fun and meaningful opportunity for students to get a firsthand look at one of the weekly traditions on campus, and something they can look forward to as they prepare for high school next year.

All scholarship applications are due on Friday, March 27 (the last day before Spring Break) and should be submitted on Canvas.

2026-27 Re-enrollment & Veracross Reminder: Re-enrollment for the 2026–2027 school year will begin on Wednesday, February 4. Pancakes with Papa's: Calling all dads please join us this Friday, 2/6 from 7:30-9:00 AM for a special pancake breakfast with your child. This is a fun opportunity to enjoy a pancake breakfast before heading to work for the day.

The Cabrillo Marine Aquarium will bring their presentation to VCES for the 3rd grade students this Friday, February 6.

Coding Class: Come check out the beginner courses for newbie coders and experienced coders for grades 2-5. Classes began on 1/15 and will be held on Thursdays - 3:00-4:00 PM, for six weeks at VCES. Skatedogs Mobile Skateboard Park is offering an 8-session class for students in K-6th at the elementary campus on Fridays, starting on 1/16. Information and registration forms may be found here. Class space is limited and early registration is recommended.

MAPS Testing for students in grades K-6th will take place 1/20 - 2/6. Testing will be at various times throughout the day depending on the classroom schedule. Please make sure your student gets a good night's rest, eats breakfast, and arrives at school on time.

You’re invited! The Scholastic Arts Society (SAS) will be meeting tonight, 2/2 at 7:00 PM in the high school office building (the Verhoeven College and Career Center). Feel free to attend even if you’ve never been to a meeting before to learn more about this group. The SAS supports the VCHS National Honor Society. Parent service hours are available to those who help.

Financial Aid Update - The December 31 deadline to submit financial aid applications for the 2026–27 school year has passed. Late applications will continue to be reviewed; however, any awards granted will be based on the availability of remaining funds. Families will be notified of award decisions via email once reviews are completed, by the first week of February. Preschool

Field trip to elementary school will be this Wednesday, January 21st. This field trip is for children who are graduating preschool and moving on to TK or Kindergarten in the 2026/27 school year. A permission slip was placed in your child's file last week. Parents are also invited to attend this fun trip with their child, but are not required to. The bus begins loading at 9:05 AM and will return to preschool by 11:00 AM. If you need to drive separately, please be at the elementary school by 9:15 AM.

Parent/Teacher Conferences will take place the week of January 26-30. This is a time for Pre-K parents (Mrs. Ericka and Ms. Jamie's class) and parents of children in Ms. Tricia's class who will attend TK next year (Birthday between September and December) to meet with teachers and discuss their child's growth and development. Sign-up sheets are posted in the sign in/out area.

100th Day of Preschool: This Friday, 01/23 we will be celebrating the 100th day of preschool with a special snack and fun activities.

Pancakes with Papa's (Dad's breakfast) will be on Friday, February 6th beginning at 7:30am. All dads are invited to join their preschool child for a pancake breakfast celebrating dad's and all they do! More information coming soon.

Coding Class: Do you want your child to learn how to code? Come check out the beginner courses for newbie coders and experienced coders for grades 2-5. Congratulations Team 1711, the Dust Busterz on a great performance at the La Cañada Regional. They competed with 37 other teams, finishing 3rd in Robot Games and earning the Runner-Up Champions Trophy (2nd place). The team earned one of six spots to compete in the So Cal Champions Competition on 1/18. Thanks to our awesome coaches and parents for their support and encouragement.

MAPS Testing for students in grades K-6th will take place 1/19 - 2/6. Testing will be at various times throughout the day depending on the classroom schedule. Please make sure your student gets a good night's rest, eats breakfast, and arrives at school on time.

Senior Parents - The next senior off campus lunch is this Friday, 1/16. Please remind your students to drive carefully, plan ahead for where they will eat, and order ahead if possible. Students who return late will forfeit the privilege of leaving campus for the next senior off campus lunch.
